RITZ White Pizza Meatball Dip, created by Lombardi's Pizza

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2014
Fantastic! I must admit that I substituted turkey pepperoni for the meatballs. And only used green olives (chopped very fine) because I didn't have both on hand. My family HATES olives, but they loved this dip and they thought the green olives were pickled jalapenos. They were irritated when I told them, but not enough to stop eating this dip!

Baby Greens with a Warm Gorgonzola Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2013
Used pears in place of the bacon for a healthier spin. I've got a lot leftover (both salad and dressing), so I'm anxious to see how it is on Day 2. REVISED: Bumped this from 4 to 5 stars. The leftovers were great . . . glad that I kept the dressing separate from the salad and then just reheated the dressing in the microwave before drizzling over salad portion.

Christmas Red and Green Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2013
I was expecting not to like this, but wanted to make it for the festive colors. It is actually very good and my family members liked it. I must admit that I had radishes in my hand at the grocery store, but they must have ended up in another shopper's cart (hope they like radishes!) because they weren't rung up on my receipt or in my vegetable bin when I went to make this yesterday morning. So, I added some halved grape tomatoes just before serving to give the salad some extra red. I do want to make this again, but actually use radishes. Also, I only got to make this about 6 hours ahead of our Christmas dinner, but it was still great. Overnight isn't necessarily necessary.

Perfect Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2013
Perfect Pumpkin Pie is Perfect! Instead of measuring the cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg, we just used 2 tsp. of pumpkin pie spice. We used the Butter Flaky Pie Crust recipe from this site for the crust. With an egg-white wash on the crust, these two paired for an excellent combination! Best part: no crack in the top of the pie! Woo hoo!

Butter Flaky Pie Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2013
I am not a baker, but decided to bake a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. I chose this recipe for the crust and it was delicious. There was a lot of cursing going on through the various steps and I think I ended up adding a LOT of water in step 1 and using a lot of waxed paper in step 2 and could've used a lot more flour for dusting my rolling pin in step 2, but it turned out great regardless of my unladylike behavior and numerous attempts to ruin it. I did use an egg white wash on the crust before filling and baking it.

Mushroom Slow Cooker Roast Beef

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2013
Absolutely excellent! I also cut up 2 onions into rings and put them as the bottom layer below the mushrooms. Served this with roasted potatoes and roasted carrots. Planned to use the leftovers for sandwiches, but I left the leftovers sitting on my counter all night, and very unfortunately had to pitch them. I was really looking forward to those sandwiches, too. ARGH.

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2013
Awesome turkey! We made this for Thanksgiving and it was stellar! I had some chicken broth leftover from another use, so I poured that in the crock pot at the beginning, as some folks had suggested, but it wasn't necessary. Stick to the recipe and you'll be delighted. Used the leftovers to make Turkey Salad Sandwiches (turkey, mayo, sliced red grapes, celery, and dillweed). That was fab, too!

Pumpkin Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2013
Absolutely the best chili! About half way through dinner I told our kids there was pumpkin in it and they did a slight recoil in their seats, but then kept right on eating. The house smelled like Skyline Chili while it was simmering for an hour. It doesn't taste like Skyline (and it isn't supposed to), but we do love that smell. I made the following changes and can't wait to make this again this fall and winter: no bell pepper - doesn't suit some of our stomachs; substitute 1 of the cans of kidney beans with a can of black beans; substitute V8 for the tomato juice; use more pumpkin - I had a partial can to use, maybe a cup, wouldn't hesitate to use a full can next time; use less pumpkin pie spice (1/2 t.); use less sugar (1/8 cup); add 1 t. cumin.

Beau Monde Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2013
Once you purchase the Beau Monde seasoning, this is worth making again and again. I started substituting dried minced onion for the fresh onion and it makes this even easier to prepare.

Rempel Family Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2013
Delicious. Used ingredients as indicated, but baked at 350 for 45 minutes then added glaze of 3T ketchup, 1T honey, and 1/2t worchestershire and increased temp to 375 for an additional 15 minutes then under the broiler for 2 minutes. Meatloaf was completely devoured by my family of 6.

Hot Corn

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
Fantastic! Made it for a tailgate yesterday (10/12) to go along with the BBQ theme. Folks enjoyed it. I took others' recommendations to only make half the sauce and then combine half the cheese in with the corn and jalapenos. I think the idea of putting half the cheese in with the corn and jalapenos was right on, but next time I'll make it with the full amount of sauce just to see how it compares. UPDATE: Made this over the weekend (11/2) for a family get together and made the recipe using the full amount of sauce. Both ways are delicious and I didn't find that there was too much sauce using the full amount. I think it comes down to how many calories and fat you want to consume. The butter did seem to be a bit much, so next time I'll try the full amount of cream cheese and milk and maybe 3/4 of the butter called for. Both times I've made this, I've used the third less fat cream cheese.

Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2013
I wanted to make some BBQ sauce and had all the ingredients shown in this recipe on hand. It was great! We didn't mind the sweetness of the maple syrup at all. I shredded a rotisserie chicken and reheated it in a saucepan with the BBQ sauce for about 45 minutes. Served on slider buns with coleslaw on top and a side of baked beans. Great meal!

Easy Pork Chops Dijon

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2013
You are a life saver! I've also been making this recipe for years. School starts tomorrow and my daughters asked for this for dinner tonight and we are in the midst of a move and all my recipes are on a POD somewhere. I couldn't remember the exact proportion of Dijon mustard to Italian dressing, did a quick search and found your recipe. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this! To everyone else: This Is Delicious! Try it!

Kale with Pine Nuts and Shredded Parmesan

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2013
This was my first time cooking kale and this recipe was simple and let the kale shine. I did use about half the butter called for in the recipe and omitted the parmesan (because we were also having macaroni and cheese). Although my 7 year-old said it was "chewy," she liked it.

Curry Stand Chicken Tikka Masala Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2013
Excellent taste and easy to make! I used unsalted butter instead of ghee and used half the amount of cayenne as others suggested. Also, I added just a little more cream than the recipe called for because I had a 15 oz. can of tomato sauce (other reviewers had suggested keeping that ratio the same). I added carrots and a head of chopped cauliflower to the skillet in step 3 and the addition of these vegetables was fantastic. It made a perfect chicken/veggie tikka masala. To accompany this, I made basmati rice, the Cucumber Carrot Salad (Raita) recipe also on this site (and also 5 stars) and served it all with Trader Joe's Naan. An outstanding meal! One suggestion: when it is time to add all the spices in step 1, it is much easier if you have premeasured these and put them all in a small bowl before you get started. Then you can add them all at once and stick to the cooking times listed. Also, we didn't find it necessary to add any additional salt or sugar at the end of step three.

Grilled Chicken with Peach Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2015
Made this exactly as written, but without grilling any peaches with the reserved sauce because peaches aren't in season right now. But we loved the peach sauce on the grilled chicken breasts! Thank you for a keeper recipe!

Oh-So-Good Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2013
What a wonderful casserole! The size casserole wasn't specified, but this fit nicely in a 9x9 square dish. I baked the dish for 30 minutes and during the last 5 minutes, sprinkled a little extra cheese across the top and put pickled jalapenos across half to give those of us that like things spicier, a little kick.

Easy French Dip Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2013
So easy and my family loves this. We always sauté onions and mushrooms to add to the sandwich. Delicious! UPDATE on 11/5: Last time I made this, I made a horseradish mayo to put on the roll and it took this to a new level.

Winter Blossom's Often Requested Ham Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2013
This is pretty good. I used leftover "honeybaked"-style ham and some of the sweetness of that is taking over the relish, onion, and mustard flavoring. I will probably try to make this another time using smoked or boiled ham. REVISION: I increased this from 4 to 5 stars because after a couple of days in the frig, this tasted fantastic (even using the honey-baked)!

Parma Crisps

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2014
I printed 10 recipes for various garlic-type breads to serve with our Italian dinner last night. My husband picked this one and we both loved how wonderful these Parma Crisps were. We look forward to making these again and again. I did take Baking Nana's recommendation to slice them to 1/4" thickness instead of 1/2" and that was a good call.
