I work outdoors and have a family with 2 young children with special needs.
For over ten years now I have owned and operated a guide service called Outdoor Escapes New Hampshire offering custom guided adventures year-round.
My 4-1/2 year old son was born with a rare brain disorder and is now just taking his first steps, yet can strike up a lengthy polite conversation with anyone. My 3 year old daughter has multiple severe food allergies including peanuts, eggs, and dairy (all things made from cow's milk). My husband is also a guide but he's allergic to shellfish and tree nuts and he also has the oral allergy to seeded fruits such as apples, avocados, and peaches.
With all the family allergies we almost never eat out at restaurants because we don't trust possible cross-contamination in the kitchens, etc.
I love allrecipes.com because it's a great source for recipes that my entire family can eat. I'm always looking up healthy, nut-free, vegan recipes for our entire family.
My favorite things to cook
Beans and lentils with lots of veggies--especially from our garden in summer. Corn, beans, and squash are what the native Abenaki Indians grew around here.
Wild game and edible plants from the forest behind our house--it's great to know right where our food comes from! Deer, moose, snowshoe hare, beaver, ruffed grouse, fish, wood sorrel, berries, maple syrup, etc.
