The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2013
I hate to leave bad reviews but I had to with this one. I followed the recipe exactly. I didn't change anything. What did I not like about these? 1 - the cookie bakes up very "cakey"... and dry. I like chewy, moist cookies. 2 - it was not very sweet. I would honestly add more sugar or flavor, something. 3 - the dough was sticky and hard to work with. That can be fixed, maybe even the 2nd thing but the biggest turn off was the texture. Never again will I attempt this recipe, I'm sorry. Now I have a LOAD of dough wasted. Beware.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2012
This soup is wonderful. It is soooo flavorful and sooooooo good. I doubled my recipe. I used a little less milk in the roux b/c I like thick soup and I also use skim milk. Next, I didn't have onion on hand so I used 1 tsp onion powder in place of the 1/3 c. I HATED doing that but surprisingly it still turned out WONDERFUL. I didn't have bouillon granules but I used 1 CUBE to = 1 tsp of granules. I dissolved it in a small amt of water before adding. Lastly, at the very end, I still wanted to add some thickness to it so I added some instant potato flakes until desired consistency. I didn't want this to mute the flavor but it has so much wonderful flavor it didn't hurt it at all. :) This is the best potato soup I have ever tasted.

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2012
I was a little leery when reading the ingredients but I trusted the reviews. I did everything as it called for, incl using the cream of chicken. I do NOT enjoy mushrooms so I wasn't even tempted to sub the cream of mushroom soup. However, it was very good. You would've never known that cream of chicken was used in this recipe. It was creamy, smooth, still beefy and good. It all cooks together wonderfully. I did add 1/2 of a sweet onion in the gravy(this was the only change I made)... it didn't hurt it but honestly, it didn't need it. The onion soup mix in the meat is enough and cooks in w/ the the gravy. I added pepper while browning the patties and a good dose of it in the gravy to suit my taste.

Soft Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2012
These were ok. There WERE very soft and the sugar coating gave a crunch. I was looking for more of a soft and CHEWY cookie, though. When rolling these into balls and leaving them in balls when baking, the cookies didn't spread in the oven as much as I'd like. Easy solution is to just flatten it down a bit with your fingers or palm. Simple sugar cookie. Good but not the best I've tried.
