Slow Cooker Pulled Pork
Like most everyone on here, I read all of the reviews before making this recipe. I used a 3 lb pork shoulder, and 2 cans of root beer instead of one because I read that the more meat that was covered with liquid, the better. I cooked it on low for 10 hours, while I was at work. When I got home, I drained it, pulled the pork, added it back to the crock pot and smothered it w/ bbq sauce (Sweet Baby Rays Chipotle). Okay... I love to cook, and I love food, but this was probably one of the worst things I've ever made. I could not get that root beer flavor out of the smell of the meat or the taste of the meat for anything! I gave it two stars b/c my 9 year old son absolutely loved it! So I'm sure it's just a matter of taste preference, but I thought it was horrible! I brought it to work today for a potluck, and I'm really hoping everyone else likes it as much as my son, but I will not be making this with root beer again. I think next time I'll try some chicken or beef broth or something... anything... else. Sorry for being negative about it, but I read a lot of reviewers that said they couldn't taste the root beer at all, and I just had to put my two cents in ;)
