About this Cook
I own a tile installation company. When our kids started school somebody needed to meet the bus and that became me. I have the the flexible schedule. As with most families first one home starts dinner. After a few years of this the kitchen got remodeled. I remain the daily cook, my wife does Christmas and Thanksgiving. My kids 14 & 16 are spoiled when it comes to food. My daughter complained about a lump in her mashed spuds. That was normal when i was a kid.
My favorite things to cook
I'm not fast, I'm not healthy. It tastes good. Anything that starts with a stick of butter should be good. I have been doing more smoking/bbq for the last year or so. I like to bake french bread which I thought I was getting the hang of then stopped (don't remember why). Cookies are always a hit. I like people to tell me how much they love my food. My wife reheats left overs at work and people ask if it's her husbands cooking again because it smells so good. I love hearing that. Potato salad is the latest food to master.
My cooking triumphs
One year for Christmas my wife and I decided to cook ham and turkey.She put the turkey in the oven, I put the ham on the gas grill out back. Turkey was done ham was not. We ate turkey. After dinner once the ham was done I tried some. It was the best ham I have ever had. I ate ham every day for 5 days. When my wife had some after 5 days she agreed it was an awsome ham. That was the first time she had eaten any of it. I ate almost 12 lbs. of ham in 5 days. It was a good ham.
My cooking tragedies
The most recent was when I added corn starch to thicken teriyaki sauce. The baking soda is on the shelf above the corn starch. I thought I can whisk this fast enough that I won't need to add the corn starch to water first. I scooped out the baking soda all the time thinking "corn starch" and whisk it in. "Why is it foaming so much?" This must be why they say to mix with water.(I know it's to keep lumps from forming,but my brain refused to see baking soda.) Then I really read the box.It smelled like ammonia.I couldn't bring myself to taste it. Threw it all out tried again a few days later, all was good.

That's-a Meatloaf
I have been making this for years now. I use swiss cheese and prosciutto. I use Italian style bread crumbs.
