Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2014
The entire time my non vegetable eating son was shoving fork fulls of this in his mouth he said "I can't believe I'm eating vegetables" I used red onion because it's all I had. I added most of the cheddar cheese into the casserole and save about 1/2 cup for topping. I also had some french Fried onion from the awful green bean recipe I tried. I added some into the mixture and some on top with crackers Oh and I used frozen petite green beans, I added them frozen into the mixture although they had pretty much thawed by the time I got them into the oven. I found I needed about 55 minutes until the green beans were tender. This was so delicious, I can't wait until tomorrow so I can eat the leftovers! Thanks Grandma!!!

Greek Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2014
Not sure what about this was Greek other than the shape they suggested which is one of the ways Greeks shape their cookies. I am 100% Greek and thought I give this a try, seeing as it was different then any other Greek recipe I have made before. With that said, this cookie was delicious. Quick and easy. Borders somewhere between a sugar cookie and a shortbread cookie. A simple homemade cookie to make in a snap. Cookie hardens a bit as it cools and turned harder when totally cooled off. I can see dipping this into chocolate or putting nuts on it, really the possibilities are endless I had a difficult time making this into shapes and scooped up some into a ball and slightly flattened it out. I'm going to cut the flour down a bit my next try but I see myself adding this to my regular cookie holiday baking and one recipe I will use in between to just have for those who stops over for coffee.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2013
I used chicken broth and water to cover (as I didn't have enough broth) Cut the biscuits in 4. Chicken went from the freezer directly into crock pot and 6 hours later the chicken was so tender and the house smelled delicious. I added lemon to my plate alone as the others had it just as recipe stated and the lemon was a nice touch

Onion Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2013
We've been making this rice for years. Only difference is we use one can of broth and then fill that can with water as a subsitution for the second can of broth. Less saltly and as equally delicious! Always double the liquid to the amount of rice used and you have a winner!

Mom's Stovetop Pork Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2013
This is one of the best recipes I've tried on Allrecipes! I followed the ingredients exactly. It took longer to boil down the water than recipe stated. It boiled so long that I stopped when there was about 1/4 of the water left and added cornstarch and made it into a gravy. It was delicious. Itook meat off the bones and served it over noodle. Amazing!

Chef John's Buttermilk Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2013
I followed this exactly other than the peanut oil and used vegetable oil. Was not overly impressed with taste but if you judged it by looks only it was amazing. Not crazy about the batter or seasonings but the chicken was definitely moist. Everyone ate it but we were in agreement it will probably not be a repeat for us. (House smelled like oil all night)

Easy Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2013
This was a great recipe. I added a big pinch of Italian seasoning as well as garlic to the onions. I also cubed some pancetta bacon, but think it isn't necessary nor does it add anything extra unless you want the meat. I followed the rest exactly! Everyone loved it, even my son and husband who usually don't order penne alla vodka when we are out. Make sure you have some fresh Italian bread for scooping up the extra sauce. Yummy!

High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2013
This cooking method was amazing! But I did need to add some cooking time at the end to make it medium well done. But this receipe must be made with some kind of gravy or horseradish sauce as it alone is a bit bland.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2012
Just tried this as my first slow cooker experience! It was so easy and absolutely delicious. I followed the receipe exactly except instead of pork tenderlion I used pork butt. It brought all my kids home for dinner! I've been bragging about it so much I convinced my cousin to buy a slow cooker to try it! Served it on potato rolls slightly buttered and quickly toasted in a fry pan. Side dish of steak fries!! Left overs were packaged and frozen in individual packs for a quick sandwich when mom isn't home to cook! Amazing will absolutely make it again!
