Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2013
This is perfect for topping my MIL's famous sugar cookies! I used 2 T. of milk and substituted vanilla for the almond flavoring.

Bread Machine Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2012
These were absolutely fabulous! This was the first time I've made rolls with my bread machine, but they turned out perfect! I divided the dough into 36 balls and put 3 in each muffin cup to make 12 over-sized pull apart rolls. After reading the reviews, I let them rise for an hour. I put a dab of butter on each one before baking instead of the egg whites and they were delish! I will definitely be making these again soon!!

Pumpkin Spiced Latte

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
This is the first time I've written a negative review. The concept is good, so I'll probably try tweaking the recipe, but my husband & I agreed that it tasted like warm milk with spices. I couldn't taste the coffee at all! If I try this again, I'll definitely use more coffee and less milk. I do like the idea of being able to make pumpkin spice lattes at home but my attempt today tasted NOTHING like Starbucks.

Filet Mignon with Rich Balsamic Glaze

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2010
Oh my goodness this was fabulous! I made it for my fiance for Valentines Day and we both loved it. I read other reviews and made a few changes based on them. I started the sauce in a separate pan and doubled the wine and balsamic vinegar. I also added minced garlic and 2 T. of brown sugar. After cooking the steaks 1 min on each side, I added the sauce and reduced the heat to low. My steaks were pretty thick, so I cooked them longer than 4 min on each side but they were still very tender and could be cut with a butter knife. I will DEFINITELY use this recipe again the next time I make filet mignon!

Aunt Anne's Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
I made this in a 9x9 stone and put a layer of the streusel topping in the middle. I also used 1/3 cup white sugar and 1/3 cup brown sugar for the topping. I baked it for 40 minutes and it turned out wonderful. I think it would have been too thin had I used a 9x13 pan. I brought it to work still hot out of the oven and everyone loved it. One person said it tasted like Amish Friendship Bread - and it's MUCH faster!

Corn and Avocado Salsa

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
I made this for an appetizer for a dinner with friends and everyone loved it. I made a few changes, though... I used a can of corn instead of fresh and added 1 can of diced tomatoes and 1 can of black bean, drained and rinsed. I left out the red bell pepper and the red pepper flakes because I didn't have them on hand. I also used a yellow onion instead of red because that's what I had. I used less (about half)cilantro because I didn't want it to be too strong. I could taste it but it wasn't overpowering. I mixed everything but the avocado together and put it in the fridge for an hour or two while I prepared the rest of the dinner. Just before serving, I added the avocado. YUM!!

Chocolate Surprise Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
I made these for a friend's birthday at work and they were gone before I could even get one (glad I'd sampled them the night before). Everyone loved them and asked when I was making them again. I hid the cream cheese filling in between layers of chocolate - a little more work, but it was worth it. I also only baked them for 20 minutes and they were done. I got 30 cupcakes out of the recipe and had enough filling for all of them. I did not ice them (easier to transport) and they didn't seem to need it. I'm making them again right now (they're in the oven) and I smell wonderful!

Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2008
I made this last night for dinner with friends and they loved it! I read the reviews and made some changes. I used no boil noodles and used a total of 12 (4 layers of 3 across). I added a tablespoon of garlic to the meat mixture because I love garlic and left out the salt and pepper (it didn't need it). I used 2 cups of ricotta and 2 cups of cottage cheese. I also used a Romano/Parmesan mixture. I used more sauce than the recipe called for - almost 2 jars. I also added a box of frozen spinach to the cheese mixture and did not mix the meat sauce with it, layering it instead. I only used 1 zucchini and that seemed to be plenty. The basil leaves added a wonderful flavor. I love meat lasagna and veggie lasnaga - this was the best of both worlds!

Chocolate Chip Kiss Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
These are simply wonderful - especially warm when the chocolate kiss is melted. (I heat them in the microwave for a few seconds if they aren't fresh from the oven!) My friends and family ask for these for every special occasion. I use dark chocolate kisses and they are divine!

Irish-Style Lamb Stew

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2008
This was my first attempt at making lamb stew. I followed the advice of others and used new potatoes and cooked it in the crock pot all day. Paired with the Irresistible Irish Soda Bread, it was a wonderful meal.

Irresistible Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2008
This was my first attempt at making Soda Bread and it turned out wonderful. I know the recipe says to let it cool overnight before eating it, but it smelled so good in the oven as it was baking that I couldn't resist. I was not disappointed. I followed the recipe exactly and unlike other reviewers, I thought it was perfect without raisins.

Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2006
This bread is wonderful! I made it in a bundt pan instead of 2 loaf pans and baked it for 1 hour and 10 minutes. I also decreased the nutmeg and cloves to 1 teaspoon and added 1/2 teaspoon of Mexican vanilla with the pumpkin. My house smelled so good as it was baking! It was hard to wait to eat it. The top is hard and crunchy and the inside is very moist and flavorful. I have just found a new favorite recipe! I will definitely be making this again and again!

Blueberry Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2006
These are wonderful! I used the crumb topping suggested in one of the other reviews. I also decreased the sugar to 2C and added 1/4C brown sugar. I used a mini-loaf stone that had 4 mini-loaves and I had plenty of batter left over (I could have easily made 5 loaves) so I used the rest for muffins. Both were excellent but it was hard to tell when the muffins were done because of the crumb topping. I will definitely make these again! Everyone at work loved them!

Greek Penne and Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2006
This was fabulous! I followed the advice from earlier reviews and used less pasta (about 12 oz.), marinated artichokes (drained) and a can of diced tomatoes instead of chopping a fresh one, which cut down on prep time. I also added feta cheese on top. Everyone who tried it loved it and wanted the recipe. It even reheats well the next day for leftovers!

Brownie Caramel Cheesecake

Reviewed: May 28, 2006
I used a 10.25 oz. brownie mix and followed the directions on it using 1 egg, 1/4 cup vegetable oil and 2 T. water. I followed the suggestion in earlier reviews and baked the brownie crust for 12 minutes. It turned out wonderful. I took it to a Memorial Day party and everyone raved about it and wanted the recipe. I plan on making this again and again!

Cranberry Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2005
These are simply wonderful. I am always asked for the recipe whenever I make them for friends or work. I accidentally used too much butter the first time I made them, but I got such great feedback from everyone who tried them, that I decided to keep making them with 1 cup of butter instead of 3/4 cup. I stock up on fresh cranberries and freeze them so I can enjoy these year round. Besides, your house smells wonderful when you make them!

Hershey's® Chocolate Chip Kiss Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2005
These cookies are easy to make and taste amazing! I used dark chocolate kisses and everyone thought I had slaved for hours making a truffle filling! I put them in goodie bags for Christmas for my coworkers and they talked about them for days! I will definitely be making these again and again.

Garlic and Artichoke Pizza

Reviewed: May 28, 2005
This is an awesome pizza, but I agree with others that 1 pound is too much cheese. I also had to cook the artichoke liquid much longer than the recipe said for it to cook down. I added grilled chicken and that made it even better.

Pumpkin Pie Squares

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2004
These are wonderful and easier than pumpkin pie! I couldn't believe how fast they disappeared. I baked the pumpkin filling 15-20 minutes longer than it said and they were perfect.
