Stuffed Pork Chops III

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
We thought this was just ok. The only thing I did differently was to lightly season my chicken with pepper, garlic powder, and ms. dash. I don't think the dish is bad, I think we just prefer conventional baked or fried pork chops with rice and gravy. Thanks anyway for providing an alternative to the "same old same old" though.

Chicken Parmigiana

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
I've made this twice and its pretty good. I do season my chicken with a little seasoned salt and pepper and I also add some oregano and basil to the breading mixture.

Italian Breaded Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2007
We enjoyed this. I scaled the egg and breadcrumbs and also dredged the chops in a flour, seasoned salt, and pepper mixture before dipping. The flavor was good and the chops were very juicy and tender. Its still no "real" fried pork chop, but its still a good change from baked chops. We will have this again.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

This teriyaki sauce is seriously good. This will be my new recipe for teriyaki sauce.

Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2007
I made this very close to the recipe, with the exception that I used light sour cream and corn tortillas (already had it in the house). I really want to rate this a 2 but I'll give it a 3 because it was neither good nor bad. I'm hoping that maybe I just can't follow directions and I just messed it up. For me, this was bland and not very "mexican". I think it needs chili powder and cumin at least, to give it some taste. I will probably not make this again.

Easier Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2007
This was pretty good and definitely easy. The chicken was very tender, not dry at all. I will probably make this recipe again. I did use more wine, and some of the leftover flour and seasoning mixture to thicken the wine sauce. Next time I may try some light cream to the mixture as some have suggested.

Slow Cooker Taco Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2007
I've never had taco soup before and i've never made it either, but i figured, i like tacos and i like soup so i'll give it a try. i prepared this as described minus the beans because I'm not a fan. The taste is good. I'm a salt and seasoning person and I don't think its bland at all. Like many have said, for a thicker stew consistency, use less water. I will make this again but next time I will add the corn in the last hour.

Prize Winning Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2007
I used this recipe for the seasoning and will rate it as such. The in-laws and better half loved it. I thought it was good, but a different taste to ribs that I wasn't prepared for. I did not grill the ribs, but instead baked them for 2.5+ hours at low temperature, then spread on the barbecue sauce and broiled them for 7-10 minutes, until sauce was bubbly. The meat was tender, but not quite falling off the bone--I like to pick my rib up and eat it, not cut it on my place with a fork! Try this seasoning for a different taste--you just might be pleasantly suprised.

Honey Mustard Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2007
This was good, but I did make modifications as I was preparing it. After mixing up the honey mustard, it looked and smelled a little to "mayo-ey" to me, so I knew my non-mayo liking boyfriend would think the same. I added more honey, mustard, and steak sauce. I highly suggest grilling the chicken, it captures the flavor so much better. Like others, I reserved some sauce for dipping and that helped a lot. I would make this again, but will try to let the chicken marinate in the sauce for longer then 45 minutes.

Swedish Meatballs I

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2007
I used this recipe for the sauce with some modifications. I made my own meatballs basically using Marla's recipe with the addition of Beefy Onion Soup. Served it over wide egg noodles for myself and rice for my picky eater boyfriend. The sauce was easy to make and tasted good, however the consistency seemed off to me, as it was a little too thick. I did add more pepper and nutmeg to taste. Don't be afraid of the nutmeg, it really makes or breaks the sauce. I will make this again, but I will have to figure out how to get the sauce a little thinner. Picky boyfriend who doesn't do "creamy" things said this meal is one he'd be willing to have again.

Prepared according to the recipe, minus the jalepenos. This dish was very good. The cilantro and the cumin make the dish.

French Toast I

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2007
I never knew french toast was this easy to make. Boyfriend always made it just with egg and it was never sweet, so I just stuck to ordering it a restaurant. I made this with thick texas toast and it was just simply delicious. Next time, I will cut back on the vanilla extract and will definitely garnish it with powdered sugar. I will also cook on lower heat and for longer and possibly with a lid, as I too had somewhat soggy french toast. If the fire is too hot, the outside will brown/burn before the inside is done.

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: May 28, 2007
I used this for chicken breasts on the grill. The taste was good--no doubt it would be great on kabobs. I give it a 4 but hubby gives it a 3. Served with rice and green beans and was a fine meal and especially easy to prepare.

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: May 28, 2007
This meal was delicious! I give the recipe 4 stars because I made some modifications that I think truly made the meal. I used less ketchup in the sauce and a package of lipton beefy onion soup mix with the meat. I also seasoned the patties before browning them. Lastly, I cooked the steaks and gravy mixture for 30 minutes at 350 instead of on the stove (just for convenience). The seasoning of the patties was delicious and the gravy was very good. Next time I will use much less ground beef. I had about 12 regular serving size patties --more then enough for 2 people. ADD: I cooked this on the stove finally and it is just as good and easy (but arguably more greasy).

Salmon with Brown Sugar and Bourbon Glaze

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2007
This was just ok for us. I had no problem with the sauce burning or anything, but to me it was plain. Boyfriend said it was "nothing special." Not sure what I expected this to taste like, but whatever I was expecting, I didn't get it. I'll probably make this again but try to change it some for a different taste.

Bubba's Jambalaya

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2007
This dish was pretty good. I left out the bacon and used whole peeled tomatoes I cut into peices (I thought I didn't have any crushed tomatoes). I simmered for 2 hours before adding the rice. The taste was really good, although next time I will use fresh shrimp. I will season and steam them first because simmering for 5 minutes at the end isn't long enough for the spices to kick in.

Awesome Roast Beef

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2007
I followed the recipe, but also seasoned the meat the night before using montreal steak seasoning, season salt, and onion the night before. Added beef broth and mushroom soup the next morning and slow cooked for 9 hours. Roast came out really good. My nephew raved about the gravy! It may have been a little salty (i can never tell), but I also used regular cream of mushroom soup instead of the low sodium healthy choice kind i usually use. Next time I will definitely use a lower sodium soup and ease up on the seasoning on the meat. This was my first roast cooking experience and it came out very good. thanks for a good recipe.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2007
Good, easy recipe. I used "Hot Chili" seasoning, medium salsa, 1/2 can dark kidney beans, 1/2 can of black beans. I slowcooked on low for 3.5 hours and served for dinner the next day (reheated in slow cooker). It was very tasty. Garnished with cheese and sourcream and cornbread on the side. Boyfriend and I both thought it was delicious, especially compared to ease of prep. Will possibly use more tomato sauce, and probably add some chili powder for more seasoning. Will also use hot salsa instead of medium, as it wasn't very "alarming" at all.
