London Broil for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2012
Delicious flavor. I used a 2 lb London Broil and cooked it for about 9 hours on low. Next time I would double the soup and water quantities because there wasn't enough of this golden mixture. It was so good!

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2013
With the advice of other reviewers, this recipe was outstanding! I had leftover yams from Thanksgiving, so I cooked and mashed them and stored this in a freezer bag. I read somewhere about the stringy-ness of cooked yams and it not being nice in a pie….so once defrosted, I strained the yams and got a very smooth texture to use for this recipe. I also added nonfat sweetened condensed milk instead of regular milk, half brown sugar/ half white sugar. Next time, I will go with all brown sugar. At the end I added about a tablespoon of flour to thicken the recipe and last a dash of ground cloves. Next time I will put a little more cinnamon and more ground cloves. Don’t be afraid to add more spice. Once it hit the 60 minute baking time at the 350C temperature, I monitored it very closely to ensure the center cooked through since I had read others having an issue with the doneness. This added to about another 7-10 minutes. Cooked it, wrapped it up and stored it in the refrigerator. This was better than any bakery or store bought pie ever!

Slow Cooker Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2013
Very good with modifications based on other reviewers...thank you! I prepared 2 very meaty slabs from the night before, salt and peppering them, and marinating them in a little dijon mustard, garlic powder, and olive oil before cooking them in the slow cooker the next day on low for 10 hours. I had a hard time taking them out of the slow cooker because the meat was falling off the bones. Then I foiled a cookie sheet and loaded the fallen slabs of meat with BBQ sauce - use your favorite - and baked for 15 minutes at 400C then 10 mins for 475C ---my broil doesn't work! Delicious!

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2013
The best recipe for chili out there. Love the bell peppers. My only regret is not doubling the recipe from the start because everyone wanted more.

Not your boring chicken. It was very flavourful and moist. I will definitely make this again.

Wonderful! I followed the recipe for the marinade and let it sit overnight in the fridge. Then hubby grilled on the BBQ. Amazing flavor!

Dark Chocolate Cake II

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2013
Great things can come with easy recipes. 5 stars for the big bang of chocolate! Use a good powdered cocoa. I doubled this recipe in case because I had a feeling it would be good. Baked it in 2 small 9' round cake pans. Very moist and the height was amazing.

Easy Apple Cinnamon Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2012
Delicious. I used a regular sized muffin pan for 6, however, filled them to the top and still had left over batter. Not a problem. I had challenges removing them from the form though even after greasing them well. I will make this again though. Next time I will keep the apple pieces a little larger so as to distinguish them in the muffin.

Slow Cooker Texas Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2012
Family loved the flavor, me not so much. I didn't care for the overly vinegar taste so I added more BBQ sauce to counter the taste. It did turn out more liquidy so I removed most of it from the slow cooker and thickened it in a saucepan and then returned it to the slow cooker to marry up with the meat once I shreaded it. I will try this again but will probably add less vinegar, more garlic, more brown sugar (or honey), less chicken broth.

Slow Cooker Cilantro Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2014
Good flavor. Cooked this in the crock pot on low for just under 8 hours and the chicken was very tender. Next time I would probably do my own seasoning as the packet of taco seasoning was too salty.
