My wedding day!
About this Cook
Mom of 5 (3 stepsons and 2 of my own). Love kickboxing and Zumba. Enjoy trying new recipes and finding ways to save money (baking my own bread, making my own dressing, ect.)
My favorite things to cook
Anything in the slow cooker. To be able to get up and thrown ingredients together and just let it do it's thing makes my day go much easier. Pork roast is the best because it's so versatile. Shred it into tacos or bbq pulled pork.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up I always loved my Grandpa Walt's Deviled eggs during any holiday meal. My uncle has now passed the recipe on to me and it is so simple ... just mayo, season salt, Tabasco sauce, and paprika (all to taste). The trick is getting the filling to be the consistency of cake frosting.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I made those deviled eggs and they came out tasting just as I remember my grandpa making them.
My cooking tragedies
Home made bread! I won't give up though, I am still determined to perfect it.

Amber's Sesame Chicken
When I moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to Idaho Falls,ID; good Chinese Restaurants were very hard to find, in fact there are only 2 here that are reasonable but still don't come close. Also they are across town. So it was time to learn how to cook my own Chinese Take-Out. This recipe was pretty close to the real thing. I did it with boneless skinless thighs and it was so good I almost didn't leave any for my 2 teenage boys, who were both out, I just wanted to keep eating little pieces of chicken. Who needs mediocre restaurants when I can cook just as good, if not better, at home.

Mom's Simple Dumplings
So good. These dumplings were just what my split pea needed.
