Cheesy Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
Tasty but not in a pretzel-y way :( Fun to make though! Easy. Made a half batch and dbf and I ate the whole pan for lunch.

Turkey Tetrazzini II

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
Love it! The picture with the peas looked so good that I put some in mine as well. Otherwise followed the recipe exactly (cut in half)...my 8x8 pan took exactly an hour. I did make this the night before and refrigerated it till we got home tonight. None of us had ever had this particular dish before, but we all enjoyed it.

Hot and Sour Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2010
It was good. Next time I'll add a bit more cornstarch. This time I left out the chicken as this was more of a starter course.

Mexican Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
Very good. I threw in a bit of finely chopped carrot, and used real garlic instead of garlic powder. Also added some cumin and a bit of taco seasoning. Served with flour tortillas, cheese and sour cream.

Becky's Oatmeal Carmelitas

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
Amazing. I can see why waiting for the bars to cool before cutting would be helpful, but there is no way I can wait that long to have the first piece. Only change I made was to leave out the walnuts. Oh and I used one stick of butter and one of margarine.

Louisiana Sweet Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
Delicious! I mixed the wet ingredients in my food processor and left them in the fridge overnight; in the morning I added the dry and cooked up these pancakes in bacon grease. Loved it, didn't change a thing! Thanks for a cool recipe.

Fresh Tomato Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
Served this as part of my Thanksgiving feast, and I really enjoyed it! I got too busy at the end and completely forgot the fresh herbs :( but I still liked it. I did use salad dressing instead of mayo, if you're serving this to someone who doesn't like dressing they're not going to like the pie! I used a sweet onion and sprinkled extra onion and some garlic over top of the tomatoes before doing the cheese topping. Delicious! And unique.

Cindy's Awesome Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
So amazing! For myself I would leave out some bacon, but everyone else love love loved it. This was the first course for my Thanksgiving feast, and the only thing I changed was the soup mix. I couldn't find leek, I used a pack of Vegetable Side Mix and a pack of onion soup mix. So easy and delicious! Thanks for a great recipe!

Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2010
Delicious and comforting :) I used cream of onion soup, amazing! Reminds me of Cracker Barrel's hash brown casserole. Update: Made this again, scaled the recipe to 8 servings. Used a 26 ounce bag of potatoes, 1 can of cream of potato soup, about half a container of sour cream, and about a cup of shredded mozzarella. Used just enough romano cheese to make a golden crust on top after baking. Filled two 8 inch square pans (makes for thinner crispier pieces which I prefer) and froze one; will update again when I bake the frozen one. The one I baked up tonight (took about 50 minutes) was DeLiCiOuS!

Cheddar Pecan Wafers

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
Addictive! I did scale it to 27 servings, and still have leftovers from my party. I used a fairly good quality cheddar that I finely grated. For the pecans, I used the basic recipe off this site (melted butter and salt on the pecans in the oven for a bit), then pulsed them a few times in the food processor. Easier than I expected, I think I want to try this without the pecans so my allergic boyfriend can try them.

Green Tea Layer Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
Wow! I made this for my birthday party and I just love it! Not too sweet, I'm not much of a fan of traditional birthday cakes. The frosting was amazing, I'm glad I doubled the recipe because then I got to lick extra off the bowl. I did add a couple drops of green food coloring. I found that a bag of green tea is a teaspoon, I just put it in the food processor and whirled the heck out of it. Still left lil green chunks in my frosting but I love it :) Thanks for an interesting recipe.

Easy Oniony Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
Wow! I've never made a cheese ball before, I made this a few hours in advance and the onions turn into little chewy bits and the whole thing just tastes amazing. I used a fairly good quality sharp cheddar that I finely grated, and I used chopped toasted pecans instead of walnuts. Everyone loved it, thanks for a super simple recipe!

Colonial Hot Buttered Rum

Delicious! Not strong tasting but I could feel the booze after my first mug :) Tastes like a spice cake or something, the whipped cream is an excellent touch.

Holiday Milk Punch: the New Eggnog

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
Tasted mostly like a glass of milk. I myself could not taste alcohol at all but a guest said it was strong...either I'm an alcoholic or she's a lightweight! Really didn't find it that strong though. I happened to be drinking a glass when we started a drinking game, and I got through two glasses during the deck, and didn't feel tipsy at all. I might go a full cup of brandy next time. Interesting recipe though, thanks!

Authentic Thai Coconut Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2010
The best I've ever had. I did use chicken instead of shrimp, and subbed the zest of one lime for the lime leaves (made a half recipe). Can't wait to make it again!

Wow. For so simple, this is really good. I'm betting aging will make it even better! I used Jack Daniel's because I'm broke :)

Famous Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
Simple and delicious! I put the butter on top of the pork chops; no they weren't what I would call crispy but they were very tasty. I used the generic version of Club Crackers, with some garlic powder and seasoned salt. My pork chops were thick cut boneless and they were tender and we enjoyed this recipe very much!
