Grandma's Famous Salmon Cakes

Good basic recipe. The 2nd time I made these, they came out even better by rolling the formed salmon cakes in panko and dusting with Old Bay seasoning. I also used fresh cooked salmon because I live in the Pacific Northwest and I'm super picky about my salmon.

Absolutely Fabulous Portobello Mushroom Tortellini

The flavor of this dish was delicious, but the cheese tortellini combined with an Alfredo sauce was just too heavy. My whole family was uncomfortably full after dinner. In the future, I will use the sauce over linguine or another plain pasta.

Slow Cooker Beef Pot Roast

Let me preface this review with a disclosure that I didn't actually eat the pot roast. I have been a vegetarian for 20 years, but my husband and children are a bunch of meat-eaters. They went crazy for this dish! Even my 2 year-old couldn't get enough of it. And I wasn't completely grossed-out making this recipe because I didn't have to do much handling of or cutting the meat, which says a lot. Searing the meat made a mess of my open-burner stove, but I might have used too much oil, as it splattered all over. Next time I make this, I will leave enough time to completely clean my stove afterward. Thanks, Chef John, for making me a superstar in the kitchen!

Asian Salmon

My whole family loved this recipe! The combination of rice vinegar, soy sauce, and sesame oil is outstanding. I used fresh ginger and substituted shallots for the onion (a more delicate flavor than regular onion, in my opinion). I made 2 cups of the marinade so we had lots of sauce to pour over the rice. This will definitely become a regular staple in our dinner rotation.
