I've used this recipie with chicken and brussel sprouts. Both are delish! To cut the sodium I use brags liquid aminos, it tastes like soy but has no added salt. As other reviewers have commented, you either need some flour or be prepared to cook the sauce for 20 min on high heat for this to become sticky. But it's completely worth it. I prefer eating it with quinoa but it's also good with rice. If you like lots of flavor and spice, make as listed but add some flour to the sauce to thicken. This is my go to recipe whenever I crave Chinese food.
