About this Cook
I have been a Navy Culinary Specialist for about 5 years, although I have always enjoyed cooking. I love to experiment, and take great pride in the dishes I am able to create on my own.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook Mexican, Chinese, Japanese Italian food, and I am beginning to experiment with other ethnic dishes, such as Thai and Indian. I like to blend the flavors of many cultures, and see what comes out.
My cooking triumphs
I make some amazing gourmet pizza, and I've adapted Johnny Carino's fantastic Timballo recipe and cook it at home - my friends and family can't get enough!
My cooking tragedies
er.. those are a little embarrassing... but hey, I'm learning! ;)

Beer Bread I
Simple, effective, and customizable. That's what I love about this recipe. I once tried Sam Adams Cranberry Lambic. The beer itself isn't so great to drink, but I made a double-batch of the stuff once, brought it to work, and it was gone in seconds, with everyone asking for the recipe. That particular variety of beer is usually only available in the Winter variety pack, but other fruity flavored beers work well. I like to pull it out maybe a tad bit early, instaed of waiting for it to completely dry, as it's nice and chewy - it seems to stay springy and fresh-tasting for longer this way, as well. The recipe is so fast and convenient, and as I often experiment with variety or microbrew beers anyway, every batch can taste different! A cheap way to customize a simple recipe.

No Bake Cookies V
This recipe is awesome! Just exactly what I was looking for, too. It is extremely easy to make, and tastes great. The nature of this recipe also makes it really easy to modify. You can add a few extras after removing from heat, if you wish (nuts, choc hips, fruit, etc -- I added marshmallows myself). Great for kids or people who aren't very confident at cooking.
