Pancakes I

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
When I saw the picture of these pancakes posted on the main page on Saturday morning, I just had to make pancakes! this isn't the recipe I ususally use, but I thought I'd give it a go. they were very bland and not very fluffy at all. the recipe called "Easy Pankcakes" on allrecipes is much better.

Burger or Hot Dog Buns

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
wow! if I could give 10 stars to this recipe I would! I made 4 large buns, 4 smaller buns and 4 hot dog buns out of this recipe. these are the best hamburger buns I've ever had! even my husband said they were perfect because they didn't fall apart when we were eating our burgers. the flavour is just right - a little sweet, but just the right balance of salt. I made the dough in my bread machine, let it rise for about an hour, then formed the buns. I'll never use store bought again!

Almond Jelly

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
I had a craving for this the other day and was SO happy to find this recipe. I upped the almond to 2 tsp, cause I wanted to make sure it really had an almond flavour, and it was great. The only thing I might change is to lessen the amount of liquid so that the jello is more firm. Thanks for sharing!

Candy Cane Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
I added more mint because I didn't think 1 tsp would be enough - I added 2 tsps and it was nice and minty! I was a little dissappointed, however, when I went to grab the cheesecake in the morning to bring it to a bakesale at work, and the crushed candy canes had bled all over the top of the cake. this has nothing to do with the recipe, of course, but be warned - the longer it sits, the more the candies on top will get messy! still delish though!

Stuffy

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
I've been doing this for years, only I do it in a wrap instead of a hoagie! it's a turkey dinner wrap - or stuffy is fun too! yummy!

Dash's Donair

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2010
This was super easy and super delicious! My husband was skeptical, but he was pleasantly surprised by how good it was! I put the meat in the food processor to blend it well (I read about this on another site, to get the right texture) and that worked out pretty good. The portion isn't very large though, so next time I'll double, or triple the beef. Thanks for the recipe!

so much better than that canned or envelope stuff! the great thing is that you can change the seasonings to suite your family's likes!

Buffalo Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2010
When my husband said, "this actually really does taste like a buffalo chicken wings" I knew we had a 5 star recipe. I wanted to add carrots (but mine were gone bad) because I think that will only add to the complete buffalo chicken wing experience, so I definitely would add a carrot or 2 next time. Also, top the soup with a little crumbled blue cheese for even more authenticity. Other than that, the recipe is perfect in it's ratios. Yum!

Sweet Honey French Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2010
I'm only giving this 3 stars because it definitely did not taste like honey! I had also read another review that said it yielded a small loaf, and I would have to agree. It was good, but I won't be making this recipe again....I'm sure there's a better one somewhere on allrecipes.

Jalapeno Hot Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2010
this is such a great base recipe for hot sauce!! I didn't think the jalapenos would be hot enough for our taste, so I halved the recipe and used 6 jalapenos, 5 serrano peppers and 1 habanero pepper. I kept the garlic at 3 cloves and added 1 tsp of cumin and 1 tsp mexican oregano. After I blended it all, I left half of the sauce thicker with the pulp, and the other half I pushed through a strainer so it was just like the consistency of tobasco sauce - both ways are fabulous!! next time I'll probably do half and half jalapenos and habaneros cause we like it HOT! thanks so much for sharing this!!!

Italian Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
This was ok. Maybe it just needed more garlic or some italian seasoning. I'll stick to my cheddar grilled cheese. It was worth a shot though.

Fried Green Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
I added cayenne to the batter for an extra kick. My hubby loved these, but I found them too heavy. If you like breaded and fried veggies, you'll probably like these!

Tres Leches (Milk Cake)

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2010
I chose this recipe to round out my tex-mex dinner party, and having never had tres leches cake before, I have nothing to compare it to, but this recipe definitely impressed me! I read many reviews and decided to pour the milk mixture onto the cake (I baked in a 9x13 inch pan) when it was still hot. Then I chilled it overnight, then turned it over onto a serving platter before topping with whipped cream, and it was perfect (I also added a layer of sliced bananas under the whipped cream, then topped it all with a drizzle of caramel)! the milk soaked in nicely so it wasn't soggy, but there was a wonderful sweet ooze when you cut into your piece!

Real Chiles Rellenos

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2010
The sauce for this recipe is outstanding! I love the warmth that the touch of cinnamon brings to it. I made the recipe exactly as written and it was awesome. the only thing I would change next time would be to switch up the filling - but that's just personal preference. it does take a bit of time, but this recipe is a great one!

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2010
wow, if I could give more stars, I would! I mixed the full recipe in my bread maker, then split it in 2 - baked one in the bread maker, and the other in a bread pan. both turned out perfectly and the texture is so beautiful - light and dense at the same time. I do agree that it is a little sweet, so next time I'll use only half the amount. thanks for the delicious recipe!

Sour Cream Rhubarb Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2010
I made this last night exactly as the recipe is written and it is delicious! I'll make it again with a few minor changes - I think it needs more rhubarb (4-5 cups), a little less sugar, and the streusel topping needs more cinnamon (oh, and I used brown sugar instead of white). A great way to use up all your rhubarb!

Cheesy Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2010
I love the idea of this dip, but I wasn't a huge fan of the texture. The flavour was good, but it needs to be creamier.....maybe some sour cream might help it out. I probably won't make it again though. Try it - you might like it better than I did!

Pork Chops for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2010
I followed the recipe almost exactly (just cut down the soy sauce as most reviewers had recommended) and it just didn't turn out. I am trying to salvage the pork to turn it into something edible, but the pork is very, very dry. As for the sauce, it turned black and is very bitter. I'm thinking that if I had fried the chops, and cooked the sauce on the stove top then maybe we'd be enjoying supper now, but instead, I'm trying to come up with plan B!

Fruit Pizza II

Reviewed: May 9, 2010
This takes a little time, but it's worth the outcome! I made this recipe exactly as written and it was perfect. The citrus topping makes it extra special! It was even better then next day, so now when I make this, I make it the day before I'm going to serve it. A real crowd pleaser and it looks just beautiful!
