I didn't have garlic salt on hand so I googled and found a recipe for making your own garlic salt with 3 parts salt and 1 part garlic powder. So I did just that-- 3/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder. In short, I think that was too much salt as the rice came out slightly salty. Had I used off the shelf garlic salt, the rice would have come out perfect.
So if you don't have garlic salt handy, I suggest you use a little less than 3/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder.
