Sauteed Apples

I make this dish often but I don't use the cornstarch or water. It really doesn't need it. My church has a roast pork dinner each November and I make this for 250 people. Everyone loves it! It's a great alternative to applesauce, which can get messy when it's served on one dish with the rest of the meal (roast pork,mashed potatoes, glazed carrots, corn, homemade sauerkraut, bread dressing and gravy.)

White Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

4 stars I really liked the texture of these cookies. However, I think they need a little more flavor. They are mostly just sweet. Next time I make them I will take the suggestion to put a little cinnamon in them. I would also like to try nutmeg or perhaps chocolate chips instead of white chocolate chips. It is a good basic recipe that could be tweaked in many ways with a little imagination.

Fresh Tomato Shrimp Pasta

This was an excellent recipe. I don't like to review something that I have changed considerably, but I used ingredients that I had on hand and it was excellent. The sauce, which I followed exactly, was very tasty. My changes were: I used swiss chard instead of spinach (because I had it in my garden); I added Kalamata olives, because I love olives in everything and instead of fettucine, which I didn't have on hand, I used penne. I also added some fresh parsley, which I also have in my herb garden. I can't wait to make this dish for guests.

Crustless Cranberry Pie

I made this pie for a dinner party last night and it was a great success. I wanted to give the recipe a "test run" before Thanksgiving and it will definitely be on my dessert menu that day. Pumpkin pie is a given for Thanksgiving but I am always looking for another pie to add to the menu. This is it for this year. It's more like a cake or fruit pudding than a pie but it was delicious.

Whoopie Pies VIII

This cookie is excellent. I didn't use the filling recipe to cut back on the fat content. I made a simple fluffy frosting with 1 egg white, 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar, 1/4 tsp. salt, 1/4 cup water, 3/4 TBS. light corn syrup and 3/4 tsp. vanilla. Cook the sugar, Cr. of tartar, salt, water and corn syrup in a saucepan over medium heat till the sugar is completely dissolved, forming a syrup. Beat the egg white with a wire whip attachment of a mixer till whites begin to hold shape. Continuing at high speed of the mixer slowly pour hot syrup in a fine stream and whip for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Add vanilla and whip about 5 minutes more, or until frosting loses its gloss and stands in stiff peaks. This is more than enough to fill all the cookies.

Molasses Sugar Cookies

I have been making theses cookies for years and they are one of my children and grandchildren's favorites. My recipe came from an old Betty Crocker Cooky Book given to me by my Mom many years ago.

Cream of Mushroom Soup I

This was a delicious soup, however, it served 3 luncheon size servings - not 6 as indicated. I followed the recipe exactly. Next time I will use less flour and more chicken broth. I used cremini mushrooms and the flavor was great. It is a very good base for experimentation. With a little imagination, it could be many different soups.

Classic Whole Wheat Bread

I made this recipe for the first time today and it is delicious. I used 1/4 cup of honey in addition to the sugar. I also made only one loaf but it could be made in two small loaves. I sprinkled sesame seeds on top of the loaf after I painted it with the egg. A big hit with my husband.
