About this Cook
I was born and raised in Virginia, but also lived in Florida and Washington, DC.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking Italian, Mexican, and Southern dishes. Especially like one-pot dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Guess my favorite still is good-old Southern cooking! Family get-togethers and Sunday dinners can't be beat in my estimation.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I cooked really good Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy that were actually very good!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I attempted to make gravy (with help from my cousins). Our first effort was too thick, so we added water/milk. Then it was too thin, so we added flour, and on it went. We ended up with enough gravy to feed an army! Oh My!!!

My Mom's Good Old Potato Salad
This is a good basic recipe. I agree with margiekale, potato salad must have some celery and a bit of mustard. Also, my nephew, who is a professional chef, gave me another suggestion: add a bit of dill weed. It does wonders for your potato salad!

Kelsey's Favorite Stuffed Green Peppers
These stuffed peppers are delicious and so easy to prepare. I love stuffed peppers, but had never tried to make them myself because I thought it would be complicated. Then I found this recipe which seemed so simple, so I gave it a try. I've made these twice now, and I'm amazed at how simple they are to prepare and how yummy they taste! Try 'em, you'll love 'em!

Butter Fried Zucchini
While I haven't tried this recipe, I must include the fact that most cooks/recipes use butter and/or margarine interchangeably. If you don't like margarine, don't use it! For the cook who complained that butter burned/ scorched, most cooks know that. If you don't want to use margarine, mix butter with olive oil. You'll get a butter flavor and it won't burn so easily.
