I have been making these for a number of years and they are always a hit.
A couple of tips for the final steps:
instead of melting the chocolate chips and pouring over bars bake the bars for 10 minutes then sprinkle the choc. chips and bake for another 1 minute then spread the chocolate chips.
turn off the oven and place the pan on the open oven door and don't touch. Let them cool at room temperature. If you try to speed up the cooling they will become chewy instead of crisp.
