Slow Cooker Cheesy Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
Good base recipe. I used 8oz evap milk, 8oz sour cream, 1 can cream of chicken, 2 cups shredded cheddar, 1 stick butter, also some paprika. Wow...it was good...and fattening. :-) Perfect for a holiday when oven space is limited.

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
Great base recipe with room for creativity. I added cooked ham and used french fried onions instead of corn flakes. Was completely gone after pot-luck. Will make again.

Coconut Date Balls

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2008
What a mess to make! But pretty good! I used 2 spoons to make balls and dropped into coconut. I found that to be a bit easier. It took me a long time to get it boiling because I was very cautious about burning. But it worked out great!

Hearty Ham Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
Good blueprint...but needs much. Added celery and more onion plus garlic to saute. Added cheddar within casserole and pepper jack on top. Added some hot sauce and lots of fresh ground pepper. Used red potatoes. And when making a rue, I always shake the flour and milk in a jar before adding slowly. I swear by this method. Overall, great comfort food.

Kathy's Delicious Whole Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2005
Very good. I also added onions. Served over Basmati rice. The sauce had to be thickened on the stove and even still I didnt like it. I had to use soy sauce on my rice. I will make again though.

Italian Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2005
Very good. A few notes: I added garlic, and just before serving (over penne pasta) I added about 1/4 cup grated parm. The sauce did not thicken even after 20 minutes...but it was still very tasty. Next time I probubly wont use the sage.

Harvard Beets

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2005
My husband actually thought the sauce tasted like sweet and sour sauce. I wouldn't use this recipe for beets again, but I might use it to make the sauce for something else.

Awesome Korean Steak

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2005
I've made this twice now. The first time with chuck eye steak. It tasted good when I could actually find some meat within all that fat! Then I used a better sirloin steak and it was wonderful that time. I definitely suggest using a better cut of meat then eye steak. I marinated about 10 hours each time which was plenty. Served with Basmati rice and a veggie sauteed in reserved marinade. Excellent!

Mexican Chicken Kiev

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2005
Much better then I tought it would be. My husband also loved it. Served with spanish rice. Used pepper jack cheese. Even though I practically stapled it shut with toothpicks, the cheese still spilled out during baking. But I didnt mind becuase I love slightly burnt cheese! It was great!

Beets with Onion and Cumin

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2005
I love beets but hated this version. I had to drain the sauce and then fry them before my husband would eat it.

I was looking for something as close to Panera Bread's soup as possible. Unfortunately, this did not do the trick for me.

Cherry Crisp

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2005
Very good. I thought there was a bit too much nutmeg flavor though. I will decrease that next time. Definetly serve with vanilla ice cream.

Roast Pork with Maple and Mustard Glaze

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2004
I've made twice now..both times it was great! Here is what I do: cut the loin in half and sear in butter and garlic before adding to crock pot. I also add a chopped onion and petite carrots. cook on high 3 hours. Just before serving, I reduce half of the liquid to a glaze. I like to serve all on top of egg noodles drizzled with the glaze.

unfortunately my family didn't like this very much. Maybe it's becuase we never use 1000 island and are not used to the taste. Sorry to bring the rating down.

Chicken Enchilada Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2004
Pretty good. I did season the chicken with cumin and salt and peper before baking, and added some taco sauce, but it still was not very spicy. My husband wanted it much spicier. I also used a mexican blend of cheese (cheddar and m-jack), and did half sour cream, half mayo. next time I will add a taco seasoning packet like others mentioned.

Basil Cream Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2004
Very good. I did this: Fried chicken with some minced garlic, added salt, pepper and onion powder to breading, and used only half pimentos. I would like to find a way to thicken the sauce without using corn starch though. Served over fettucini.
