Chocolate Rum Balls I

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
These tasted just like I remembered. Don't forget to let them "marinate" in a closed container or ziploc and dust again with powdered sugar before serving. If you use the ziploc bag method of "rolling" them in powdered sugar, you only have to use one ziploc for everything - initial powdered sugar coating, "marinating", then the final powdered sugar coating before serving. A real time and dish-saver!

Bub Bub's Hearty Mush

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2006
I made this as written, except I subbed frozen veggies, like the previous reviewer. The only thing I would change next time is to cut back on the salt, because even my salt-aholic husband's first comment was..."Wow, this is salty. Maybe even *too* salty." I definitely thought it was too salty and will cut back next time. I'll probably cut back on the cayenne a little, too, because it was super hot-spicy. But hey - I'm not complaining because the overall taste was AWESOME! A very comforting and tasty meal! Thanks for this quick, easy, and inexpensive dinner idea!

Mini Meatloaves

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2005
I made these tonight in a 12-muffin pan and with exactly one pound of ground beef. It filled them up perfectly with just enough sauce to top each one. I followed the suggestion of another reviewer for the cooking time and 35 minutes was great - very moist meatloaf. I would have given this 5 stars, except for two things. First, the actual meat mixture was bland, even though I added some garlic powder, onion powder, and a splash of worcestershire sauce. And lastly, I did need to add about another 1/4 of oats to make the mixture workable - otherwise it was too wet, even after letting the oats soak in the liquid ingredients for 10 minutes, as suggested by another reviewer. I really enjoyed the sauce and overall, it was really good. My husband and I will both be eating this again but I will be sure to try and spice it up some more. Thanks!

Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2005
I did not deviate from the recipe, and it was good, but not great. A little bland in my opinion, and husband said it was "okay". Not a bad dinner, but there are enough things I like better that I probably won't make this one again.

Sensational Sirloin Kabobs

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2005
I marinated the steak for over 12 hours and parboiled the peppers. Still, the peppers were crunchy and steak was okay, but not "wow". Husband and I agrees that it was a decent meal but not a "repeater". It just didn't have enought flavor for us.

Slow Cooker Split Pea Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2004
I didn't find a lot of flavor in this soup, other than the sausage, which gave kind of a greasy feel. I followed the recipe as written, except I used 8 cups of water instead of 10. I do think 10 would have been too thin. I used Hillshire Farms smoked sausage. The peas cooked to a good consistency at 5 hours on high, but I just wasn't a fan of the overall finished product. To me, it was kind of bland. Salt helped some, but not much. My husband said it "wasn't bad", but not one of his favorites, either. I don't think I will make it again.

Spicy Potato Soup II

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2004
I tried this for my husband and myself - and my husband is VERY picky. We like things really spicy, so I doubled the Tabasco. Oh my goodness, this was wonderful! And the best part is that my husband really liked it, too, so now we have a new recipe to add to the slim selection of "acceptable meals", haha. He even took the leftovers for lunch the next day. Thanks for sharing this recipe! It was really easy (I'm not the most experienced cook) and it tastes sooo good!
