Greek Salad III

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2009
This one is definately a keeper. My whole family loves this. I don't add the cucumber, but that is the only alteration. My daughter asks for this often asking for the salad that smells like breatsticks!

Best Ever Popcorn Balls

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
Everyone that I make these for loves them. The only change I make is putting a hershey's kiss in the middle when I make them. I tried to put M&M's in the mix, but they melt and don't look pretty. I have also used the strawberry marshmallows in them and they are very cute that way too. Great recipe!

Honey Baked Apples

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2007
My family loved this! I couldn't find cranberries so I used rasberries. I think if I do that in the future, I may wait until 1/2 the baking time is over to add them in. We did add a tsp. of vanilla and sprinkled cinnamon on top, but this was definately a winner. I cannot wait until cranberries are in season to try it with that!

Creamy Veggie Fondue

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2006
I loved this one, but my family hated it. My kids couldn't get over the "green stuff" in the cheese. I guess I will keep looking.

Best Formula Three-Cheese Fondue

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2006
My family loves this one the best. We do a great deal of "family fun fondue nights" and this one won. I only gave it 4 stars since the swiss is rather strong for me, but that is how my family likes it, so alas, it stays as is. I do add some garlic and lemon juice.

Giant Ding Dong Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2006
My family loved this. It is VERY rich. I couln't even eat a whole piece. I did do what others suggested and used 2 9 inch pans and it worked well. I did not heat the chocolate on the stove. I melted it in the microwave on 30 second intervals with stirring in between. Once it really was almost melted I did 15 sec. intervals so I wouldn't burn the chocolate. It turned out fabulous and was much faster and easier. I then poured it on the top and let it drip down the sides and manuvered it around with a small spatuala. Great recipie!

Self-Filled Cupcakes I

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2006
This is amazing. I did use mini chips like many others suggested. I have found that if you just spoon the filling on the top, it doesn't usually fall to the bottom. When I made the cupcakes it made 24 regular and 18-24 mini. Normal box mixes make 24 but I fugured that with adding the filling, the rest of the mix had to go somewhere. I get more compliments on this then anything I make. I will definately try other's ideas on alterations!

Baked Whole Cauliflower

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2006
I am giving this 4 stars because the bread crumb crust was excellent. We just didn't like the fact that it didn't stick to the cauliflower at all. It didn't give the cauliflower any flavor, because it didn't penetrate the cauliflower. I think it needs some more liquid and maybe it would help give the cauliflower some flavor when in the oven. I am trying to tweek it to fit our tastes, but the crust was excellent.

Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2006
This was ok. My children didn't like the apples or onions on it because my daughters didn't like the cloves. My husband who eats anything said next time just cook pork chops and make sauteed apples on the side. The flavor just didn't penetrate the pork chops even though I used apple juice for the water. Wasn't bad, just not what I expected.

Baked Potato Soup III

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2006
My family loves this soup. I use fat free milk, 2% sharp cheddar cheese, the precooked bacon bits, and light sour cream and have had no complaints! I don't cook the potatoes in the microwave. I boil them on the stove and make the roux while waiting for the potatoes to cook. I also do what some suggested and cook the onions in the butter to give it a bit more punch.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2005
My husband has never really liked any brownie that I have made. He loves brownies, just not the box kind. I tried this one and it was great. I added chopped walnuts since in my family a brownie is not a brownie without nuts. I made 2 batches, one with 1/2 c nuts and 1/2 c chocolate chips and no icing on top, the other with just the 1/2 c nuts (and since I was out of honey) canned chocolate icing. My kids liked the ones with the icing and my husband the other, but they were both great. I definately recommend this one for ease of prep and the bottom line....it is a darn good brownie.

Pickle Rollups

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2004
My family really likes these. I used veggie style cream cheese and a thicker ham slice. It does work better if you do dry off the pickle. Otherwise they flatten and are not as pretty.
