This is a great basic recipe you can alter and make your own. I did it as is with the addition of 1/3 cup wheat germ and about 1/2 cup milk since the wheat soaks up a lot of liquid. Of course I added Guatemalan cardamom, nutmeg and lots of cinnamon.
Next time I will replace the butter with canola oil, replace half the flour with whole wheat flor and double it to make a a bigger one. That loaf didn't last long so I need to make it bigger LOL.
Also, I agree with a review. You can't over mix a cake batter. Your batter will get tough and hard when you cook it. Like a bread dough, when you work it the gluten gets tough. Just fold it till incorporated. mash the banana separately with a fork before you add it to the mix.
