About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I like to bake sweet breads, cookies/bars and anything with lemon in it. I am trying to get more into cooking but its a bit boring!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I never cooked growing up but I have alway liked to bake since I was a kid. My mom is Native American and Irish so we had a pretty "spice-less" diet.
My cooking triumphs
I baked my first turkey for thanksgiving last year. I used an Allrecipes' recipe and though I'm not a big turkey fan - I was proud I didn't mess anything up and my 20 odd family members found it tasty.
My cooking tragedies
I recently tried to bake a white cake from scratch without using cake flour and I think I just substituted and mixed too many things up. It was as flat as a flan and fell apart coming out of the pan. It was for a bbq that day. I brought it anyway cause it still tasted good - just wasn't very pretty!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles
These were very good. The yeild was very accurate. I added a tsp of rum extract. They came out crunchy rather than chewy even with different bake times. It might just be my oven though! They'll be great tea.

Strawnana Bread
I really liked this bread. I think the strawberries made it sweeter than the average banana bread which was great. We ate it alone and with coffee and both ways were great.

Turkey Mercedes
My first time making the turkey and everyone said it was good but I felt that none of the flavours came through in the meat. It sure smelled good while cooking though! I'm not much of a turkey fan anyway.
