Dinks Diner about 1960
About this Cook
Parents owned Dinks Diner in Ulysses, Kansas, Married to a picky eater with bland taste buds! All my spices jump for joy when we have company, they get used. haha. Creative sort.. is there really a left side to the brain? Work in Pastel, Watercolor, and favorite is Portraits.
My favorite things to cook
Brownies, Chicken Noodles, Beef Tips n Noodles, Vodka Rustica, Deep Fried Shrimp, Southern Chicken Fried Steak, Bread Pudding with Caramel Sauce. Brownie Cappucinno Chocolate Chip Cheesecake, with Coffee/Chocolate sauce. Chicken Mukhani, Naan Bread, Cinnamon Rolls, Chocolate chip cookies with my variations. French onion soup with Shrimp/bacon quiche, Spinache Souffle,
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking for my friends and family.. Thanksgiving/Christmas..anytime they get within plate distance. Sending out invitations on burnt edged parchment paper, announcing that even though the invitation is burnt, dinner won't be..
My cooking triumphs
Fairly accurate ability to decifer dishes at restaurants, so I can make them at home. My best friend gave me a t-shirt that says.. "let the praises for my cooking begin" After my brownie, carmel chocolate chip cheesecake I made up. Homemade egg noodles, brownies, cheesecake and Vodka Rustica.
My cooking tragedies
15yrs old, I stuck my dad's dentures together with my first attempt at peanut brittle. 19 yrs old, threw out my first cast iron skillet with my first batch of white gravey, couldn't get the spoon out. My first attempt at wheat bread was used as paper wieghts and lethal frisbee toss, 25 yrs old.

Moroccan Lentil Soup
I made this for my friend who is taking radiation/chemo treatments for brain cancer after her surgury. She loved it.. freezes well, as she can't eat a lot at one time.. great for that high fiber/protien meal. She liked heavy on the cayenne.. I like light on the cayenne. Excellent!! Thank you!
