Coconut Curry Cabbage

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2012
My husband and I loved this recipe BUT I must admit we love INTENSE food. I used 4 cloves of garlic and 1/4 c habanero salsa. I also added 1 c julienned celery and deglazed the pan near the end with 1/4 c dry white wine. We served it with haddock in a lemon-cream sauce. GREAT easy, healthy supper. Thank you, Sonia!

Tyler's Raspberry Thumbprints with White Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2012
Good cookies. Thank you for the recipe. I gave it a 4 because it wasn't sweet enough without the addition of a little more sugar. But I do like it that it incorporates the oats! My suggestions: Add 1/4 c more sugar, 1 t vanilla and 1/2 t salt. Be sure to make small cookies - the ratio between jam and cookie is nicer. They do spread - I tried them on an oiled stone and then on parchment as suggested - there was no difference in the spread. Good with and without the white chocolate or the glaze. Now I'm going to freeze my leftover dough in rolls. I'll slice it thinly, bake till crispy, and we'll make ice cream sandwiches out of it with the grandkids!

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2012
Delicious, creamy rice pudding. Exactly what I was looking for. I added the sugar near the end of the cooking time and adjusted to taste - I ended up adding about an extra tablespoon. The rice and raisins remain nicely suspended. I stirred a chopped banana into a couple of the portions. THANK YOU for the wonderful recipe!

Lemon Cream Cupcakes

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2010
Excellent crumb to these light, tender cupcakes. The frosting is nice and lemony. I got 30 cupcakes in my paperlined tins, and doubled the frosting recipe. Ratios were just right. If you like a very lemony cake, increase your zest and add lemon extract. The lemon flavor of the cake itself is quite delicate, appropriately enhanced by the more assertive frosting. Eager to try this as a cake next time, and will fill with a lemon filling. Will post soon.

Excellent, easy recipe. I popped it in a slow oven for a few hours after stirring in some cooked chicken pieces. My guests and hubby raved.

Sour Cream Raisin Cookies

Excellent, tender cookie with good keeping qualities. I made as suggested, except I rolled them in the cinnamon sugar mixture. Oh. I guess I added an extra 1/4 c raisins, too. Wonderful, old-fashioned recipe.

Cherry Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
This cake recipe was exactly what I was looking for. I used Door County, WI, sour cherries, from frozen. It turned out perfect - with a moist, somewhat dense texture that shouts 'NOT CAKE MIX!' I made a cream cheese cherry frosting using the reserved juice, rather than the cherry sauce. Delish! Going in my permanent file.

Maple Ginger Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2009
Wonderful cake. Moist and flavorful. I followed exactly except used a Bundt pan and baked for 45 minutes. Frosted with a maple-cream cheese frosting that I made very soft and sort of draped over the cake. Then I grated some hazelnuts and chocolate dust over the top - beautiful presentation! Thanks for the great recipe! OH. I used butter instead of shortening, too.

Sour Cream Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2009
Excellent, quick choice for using up baking mix. I followed the recipe exactly, made it 1 1/2 times and split it between 2 8x8" pans for a morning 'kucken'. I mixed the dough, put it in the buttered pans, sprinkled a pint of thawed blueberries over the 2 pans, sprinkled a handful of sugar over each and baked at 375 for about 25 minutes. Got rave reviews from my family.

Treasure Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
Lovely cookie! I chose it because I needed cookies for Sunday at church, and had no eggs on hand. I used the smallest Pampered Chef scoop, and the recipe made 7 dozen cookies. A great combination of crisp and rich. I will make this again. Only substitution I made was walnuts instead of pecans.

Orange Roughy with Citrus Sauce

Excellent recipe! Very easy and extremely tasty. I made exactly as stated with two exceptions - fresh cilantro intstead of parsley and 1/2 T of very thinly sliced red pepper for color. OUTSTANDING recipe - try it!

Spicy Sweet Potato and Coconut Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2008
EXCELLENT flavor! Fast supper technique: Put up broth to boil, (I used chicken rather than vegetable) peel the sweet potatoes, chunk them up into the broth, chunk up the onion and add to the broth. Substitution for curry paste and fresh ginger: 1 t chili powder, 1 t cumin, 1 t ginger, and 1 T curry powder. Once the potatoes were cooked, puree in the blender with the lemon juice and then pour back into pan and add the coconut milk, chopped cilantro & sesame oil. I skipped the salt. VERY tasty and quick! Garnished with a seasoned sour cream/yogurt blend and we can hardly wait to have leftovers tomorrow night!

Sweet and Savory Kale

Great recipe. I cut the sugar as others suggested, and knew there was NO hope for hubby to like it if I added the cranberries and nuts, so left them out. Turned out GREAT anyway!

Teriyaki Sauce and Marinade

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2007
Oh, for ten stars! Wonderful, wonderful recipe - never had teriyaki sauce this good! We followed the recipe exactly. We found the mirin and the rice vinegar in the natural foods section of our grocery store. DO use all the garlic and DO use fresh ginger! Thank you, Celeste! (I HAD to use that beautiful name! My daughter is Genevieve!)

Great Pumpkin Dessert

This dessert is a non-entity - too mushy for cake, not pumpkin pie. I thought it might be good, given the reviews. I think it is very ... unlovely. Sorry.
