Chili Seasoning Mix II

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2009
This is a pretty good place to start from with your chili seasoning. It's very mild and worked well. I did make a change or 2 however. I didn't add any flour at all. I decided I would add it after the fact if needed, but our chili didn't need any thickening at all. We like ours a little more on the "hot" side so I did add a bit more of the chili powder, pepper flakes and tossed in some paprika for good measure. This recipe is a great jumping off point.

Garlic Angel Hair Pasta

Reviewed: May 13, 2008
This was a good light meal for our family. My husband and I both enjoyed it as did all 3 kids, although my 14 year old wanted a little more "something" in it. She couldn't really say what, but this is the same child who thinks you have to have meat with every meal. I followed the recipe as stated only I used fettuccine noodles since I had those on hand and adding a bit extra garlic to the water. I also used parsley instead of chives. Nice, light and good on a hot summer day.

Pennsylvania Coal Region Barbecue

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2008
We all really loved this recipe, from the 1 year old to the oldest member of the family. Quick, easy and family friendly. Another great use for hamburger. Serve it on sandwich rolls with some macaroni and cheese on the side and the kids were thrilled. Will definitely make again and again.

Pepperoncini Beef

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2008
This was a huge hit in our house among those of us over the age of 4! So easy, toss the roast in the crock, threw in some minced garlic since that's what I always have on hand and use in everything, Victoria brand pepperoncini's (stems, juice and all) and let it go. By the time we were ready for dinner it was so easy to shred. Served on hoagie rolls with provolone cheese on top, lightly toasted in the toaster oven to melt the cheese and it was great! No extra condiments necessary. Definitely a regular recipe in our rotation now. Toss some Sun chips on the plate and you've got a quick, easy and not too bad for you quick dinner for a busy family.

Sweet and Tangy Slow Cooker Bar-B-Q Pork

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2008
My family loved this recipe. When I made this I didn't make it with ribs, I took a 4lb pork loin and doubled the recipe for the sauce, but followed it exactly otherwise. Just before serving, I took out the loin (it was falling apart but not too bad to remove anyway) and then strained the sauce into a saucepan, added a little extra hot sauce, brown sugar and cornstarch to thicken the sauce up. I shredded the pork and then served the thickened sauce on the side. Super easy, very yummy and much better than any bottle sauce we've used to make crock pot pulled pork. Served the pulled pork on buns with a side dish and it was great! We have enough to feed our family of 6 for two meals and will be making this probably at least a couple times a month.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2008
I'm a total bread novice, but I made this bread today with minimal effort. I followed the recipe as is with the exception of the flour, I used a half white/half wheat flour. I made the adaptations for mixing in my Kitchen Aid with the dough hook and over all it was fairly simple once I researched exactly what letting the yeast perk was. The bread came out very good and tasty and my entire family thinks it tastes like the bread they bring to the table at Longhorns Steak House. We love it. For sandwiches I do think that next time I will cut the sugar in half. It's not bad as is, just sweeter than I typically like my sandwich bread. We'll definitely make it again.
