A wife & mom of 2 great daughters & a Maine Coon cat. I am blessed with good health, lots of family support and very little to worry about at this point in my life.
My favorite things to cook
I cook typical American food, like I was raised on. We love and I cook veggies, meat, salads & anything fresh in season. I am a good cook and stick to what I know. I love to try new recipes when I have the time.
My favorite family cooking traditions
On Thanksgiving it is turkey, sausage stuffing, squash, gravy, rolls, pumpkin pie. Christmas is sugar cookies, white trash, various dips. We do not make a big meal, but appetizers and dips and graze all day. Easter is Ham. Every Father's Day is Strawberry Shortcut for Dad/Husband. I expect my BD cake to be: Lemon Mix with Milk Chocolate Frosting and Mint Choc Chip Ice Cream. My kids are not fussy eaters and go along with most things we like and try to cook them, themselves. We are Catholic, so it is Fish during Lent & because we are Irish, Corned Beef & Cabbage for St Patrick's Day. We can shop at Wegmans, so everything we desire is available to us all year long.
My cooking triumphs
My children are very healthy and grew up eating healthy; very little fried foods and lots of veggie & fruit recipes. But, I also believe a little bit of dessert won't hurt anyone.
My cooking tragedies
I did not like to cook until I was married and had kids and in the beginning it was touch and go. I grew up in family full of wonderful cooks, but I was never really interested until I had too. So with that said, there were plenty of mishaps along with way and now they are distant memories. My hubby and kids think I am a good cook, so that is all that matters to me.
