Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
These were a big hit at Thanksgiving. Super yummy, sweet without being candy. I did leave off the topping and just topped with candied walnuts.

The Whole Jar of Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
These. Are. Amazing. Just completely delicious. They were gone so fast it was unreal. Absolutely perfect. Soft, chewy & they held together. I made minor changes. I only had 2 large eggs, I used bread flour and left out the peanuts.

Cool Whipped Frosting

Super easy, super yummy. I made a chocolate version with chocolate pudding. we used the leftover frosting to top hot chocolate. White chocolate pudding with a small amount of raspberry extract is AMAZING.

Easy and Delicious Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2011
I will admit that I didn't follow the directions exactly but this was really good. I ended up baking this in the oven at 350 for about 40 minutes. I omitted the chicken broth completely. Instead of dressing and then sauce, I took a creamy italian dressing (about 1/4C) and the remaining ingredients and whisked them together thoroughly in a bowl. Then poured over the chicken and baked. I stirred the sauces once about halfway through. And seasoned it up more at the end (we're heavy on the seasoning in most things). Good reviews from everyone (including a 5 & 9yo)

Coconut Ice Cream

Excellent as is. If you don't have/can't find the cream of coconut, sweetened condensed milk + coconut extract works beautifully. I use this as the guide for all my homemade icecream now.

German Brotchen Rolls

These are amazing if you are looking for a good crusty roll. A little more complicated than the average roll, but worth the effort. The perfect acompaniment to Ham & bean soup.

Green Tomato Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
This was fantastic. Took the advice of others and pureed the tomatoes. Noone in our house likes raisins so I substituted coconut and had pecans not walnuts. I didn't measure my spices so I'm sure I added more than listed, but we like our 'spice cake' to be super spiced so that's a matter of personal taste. Good recipe. Plan to try adding cocoa powder next time I have an abundance of green toms.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2011
This was really good. The only substitution I made was I had to use taco sauce for the tomato sauce (it was all I had). I did expect it to be a little brothy-er than it was. It came out almost the consistancy of dip or really thick chili. Stir cheese and sour cream into your bowl and it was great with frito scoops & tortilla scoops eaten like a dip.

Free-Form Harvest Apple Tart

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2009
I'd liek to start by saying, I'm not a huge fan of fruit type pies, but my husband is so I made this for him for his birthday. I used the apples we had on hand (gala) and a refrigerated pie crust (because I have HORRIBLE luck making anything bread or bread-like) The filling is AMAZING! The cream cheese base and lemon gelatin give a great texture and flavor to the filling. I put walnuts on top because its what I had, and I loved them with it. This could be adapted so easily to other fruits/combinations. FABULOUS recipe!

Three Berry Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
I would like to start by saying I am pie challenged. I have never made a baked pie that turned out edible. DH's favorite food is pie! This is a problem! This pie turned out FANTASTIC!! I didn't have raspberries so I substituted cherries. I used all frozen fruits (what I had) and thawed completely. Baked according to fresh directions. I also took the suggestion of otehr reviewers and used 1/4 C cornstarch. Beyond that, I increased the sugar a small bit (MAYBE 1/4C) and because I had them in the cupboard, threw in some dried cherries (striaght from the package). DH ate 3 pieces the first day! And even BIL who doesn't like pie, complimented me on how good it was. Excellent adn easy recipe!!

Crispy Cereal Mix

Its good. but we like a stronger flavor in our snack mix. Going to try doubling the seasoning ingredients and see if that suits our tastes more. It is yummy, the flavors used work well! Just not as potent as we personally like.

Chicken and Sausage with Bowties

This is sinfully good. A rare treat for us because its really not very healthy. The only thing I do differently is I do NOT toss with the pasta before serving. We like having leftovers and the noodles just don't hold up with the liquid on them.

Southwestern Rice

Super simple. Super yummy! I did add 1 lb ground beef to make it a full meal for my meat-eaters, and used instant rice (used the stock in an amount=to what the box of rice said). Flavor was great. Served with tortilla chips and topped with shredded cheese. Family ate it like a dip. Even the picky 5yo!

Green Grog

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2007
This was awesome. The full batch would make 2 gallons (before alcohol). I made this for our whole family and just added alcohol for the adults into their individual glasses. I cut the amounts down to 1/4 (so 1/2 each lemonade/limeade container) and that made a 2qt container. Tangy and sweet, just the right flavor. Coconut rum made this superb!

Strawberry Syrup

Used more strawberries than called for because it was a little too sweet for my families tastes. I diced frozen strawberries (in the correct measure) and prepared by the recipe. It was too sweet, so I added about 1C more of totaly pureed berries. Was AWESOME!! Freezes GREAT!!

Blueberry Sauce

Awesome recipe!!! I didn't have OJ so I use Berry juicy juice (its what I had). I also added a few more blueberries and made it a point to smash about half (But that's a matter of personal preference!). Didn't need the water or cornstarch. This also froze WONDERFULLY! Just as delicious after freezing!

I used leftover cranberry orange from the refrigerated section, and the recipe was fantastic. Even the two picky kids ate this! Not a flavor I would want every day, but definately tasty and a great way to use up leftover cranberry sauce!
