My favorite things to cook
I used to always prefer cooking over baking, because there was more room for customization and improvising. The past year I've discovered I have a knack for baking and have enjoyed experimenting with made up recipes and altered recipes I find here. I realized I was addicted to baking when I was making cookies for the holidays this year and every time I checked the oven and saw them plumping and crisping I'd squeak with giddiness. I'm either insane or ...well, I'm insane. No doubt.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother is the family queen when it comes to baked treats. I didn't appreciate it much as a kid because I could never eat a ton of sweets without getting sick. But now I realize, it's not about eating, it's about giving.
My cooking triumphs
I had a new friend who turned 30 and his family and friends neglected to do anything for his birthday (probably because he hid). I wasn't having any of that so I threw him a themed (robots and Cerenkov blue) birthday bash. He is a vegetarian/health nut so I made pasta with squash and zucchini, and oatmeal cranberry cookies. He said it was the best birthday he's ever had!
My cooking tragedies
Bacon. I cannot freakin' cook bacon. It's always either too fatty and slimy or too burnt and tangled up and stupid. I hate it.

Balsamic-Glazed Salmon Fillets
I made this with a few little changes. Only had 2 big salmon fillets, but made the same amount of glaze (I'm trusting). Didn't have wine, so I used extra honey and probably extra mustard, which was just coursely ground instead of the dijon. Dried oregano instead of fresh, and extra garlic. This came out FANTASTIC. I was worried about the vinegar but my boyfriend and mom were both amazed. Thank you for this recipe!!!

Marinated Mushrooms
I made this with a few changes. I didn't have enough wine and had no red wine vinegar, so I used balsamic and extra EVO. I also used more garlic, more green onions, and no peppers. I also added some sunflower seeds. It was sooo good!!! Next time I'll mix it with some baby spinach with the extra liquid. Perfect for a cold salad :}

Roasted Garlic Cauliflower
I made this with broccoli instead of couliflower, because that's what I had... it was soooo good!! Me and my boyfriend love garlic so this is a great recipe! I may have used more garlic than called for, but it's good for you so it's okay :}
