Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: May 28, 2007
Delicious! I boiled the ribs to speed things up, otherwise I made the recipe as listed. They were a hit at the dinner party. I'm anxious to try them again, but this time I will bake.

Pork Chops and Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: May 27, 2005
The whole family enjoyed this meal. I added my own spices and used chicken oxo with water rather that the chicken broth. Will add this to my recipe book, thanks Monica!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2005
I scaled down the recipe for one loaf and truly wish I would have made four! This banana bread was moist and delicious, the best I've made by far. The only change I made was replacing the walnuts with pecans. Will make again and again. Thanks Esther for sharing this truly five star recipe.

Simple Whole Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2005
The flavour was good, but the cooking time is way off. I used a 3lb chicken that was completely thawed and as per some reviewers suggestions I cooked it for an additional 15 mins. It came out still raw in the middle, totally infuriating! I threw the chicken in a roaster and cooked it covered for an additional 30 mins. To add to this my oven was a complete mess from cooking the chicken uncovered. I will not use this cooking method again, but may try the spices using my rotisserie.

Shredded Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2005
I made this according to the directions and although it tasted good, it was very unappealing to look at. The kids didn't eat it(no surprise) and my husband thought it was ok. Probably won't make this again.

Canadian Barn BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2005
Delicious! My idea of what a BBQ sauce should be. I too cut the brown sugar, I used a little over a cup. I used the sauce as a baste on chicken breasts. The only disappointment was that I contaminated the sauce with the brush that i basted the chicken with and couldn't use the leftover for a dipping sauce for the chicken. Will make this again and again and can't wait to use it on ribs.

Mom's 'Sweet 'n' Sours' Pork Ribs

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2005
The sauce deserves all 5 stars, very good! Instead of ribs I used some leftover pork loin roast, which I sliced and browned. This will be my sweet and sour sauce from now on because it's easy to make and doesn't require pineapple which my family doesn't care for. I can't wait to try it with ribs and chicken.

My Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2005
I found these to be very good, but my husband wasn't crazy about them. I used imitation crab meat instead of canned because he prefers imit.crab. Otherwise, I followed the recipe as is. He asked me not to make this dish again because "it's a waste of crab". I don't agreee with that statement but I'm giving both sides.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2005
I had company when I made this dish and it went over gangbusters! The pork was tender and delicious. I didn't have italien style bread crumbs, but rather used regular bread crumbs and mixed in an italien seasoning. Will make again!

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2005
Delicious, great company dish, i've made it with ziti and with penne. I've used half sour cream and the other half as cottage cheese and once as ricotta cheese. I've also made it all sour cream, any way I make it turns out excellent, highly recommended!

Onion Rings

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2005
I made a few changes such as using a regular yellow onion and adding seasoning salt to the buttermilk pancake batter and after dipping in batter I coated the rings in bread crumbs. After cooking in oil, I sprinkled the onion rings with seasoining salt. The result was almost exactly like A&W onion rings. Delicious!

Awesome Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2005
Excellent! I used chicken legs w/ backs attached instead of whole chicken, omitted peppercorns and lemongrass (didn't have either on hand). I used some of our favorite spices. Next time I want to try this exactly as is, in fact I can't wait. Thank You Alan.K for a wonderful recipe, it is our recipe of choice for chicken noodle soup, my search has ended :-}UPDATE: I made this exactly as is, and now wouldn't make it any other way, the peppercorns and lemongrass add so much to this soup.Highly recommended!

Brunch Enchiladas

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2005
I'm surprised, due to all the great reviews this recipe got, that I found this dish so unappealing(and i am not a fussy eater) I made the recipe exactly as called for and found it bland.Maybe i should have used some of the suggestions from other reviewers and would have gotten better results, either way I'm not trying this recipe again.

Aussie Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2004
Enjoyable dish, my husband loved it. It wasn't difficult to make, despite the fact I ran into problems. For some reason, even though I pounded the chicken breasts they thickened up when I browned them, so the cooking time was longer than 15 mins, more like 30 mins. and even then they were still somewhat pink in the thicker parts, so into the microwave they went, resulting in cheese that hardened upon cooling, grrrrrr. I will attempt this again though because the sauce is divine and the ingredients all work together nicely. UPDATE: I've made this several times since the review. It's a family favourite and great company dish, highly recommended .
