Greek Pasta with Tomatoes and White Beans

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2006
We loved this dish. I will make this over and over again. Super fast, easy and cheap! I made some changes. Sautéed a little onion and 3 cloves of garlic in olive oil, then added a little sherry and let it cook down. Only had plain canned tomatoes so I added a good Tbsp of Mediterranean seasoning, 1 Tbsp of sugar, black pepper and cayenne pepper to them. Added sliced black olives and had to use frozen spinach which I drained well and only used ½ of the box. That worked fine. All I had was fettuccini so I tossed it with the tomato mixture and had to add a little chicken broth because it was a little dry. Excellent!

White Chocolate Grapes

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
These were so good, I could have eaten them all before the guests arrived. I melted the chips and then put all of the grapes in the bowl and tossed to coat then spread them onto wax paper and sprinkled finely chopped peanuts over the top. These were a hit!

Alfredo Sauce

Best ever alfredo. Sometimes I make a variation with frest mushrooms cooked until almost tender with the butter before adding the rest of the ingredients.

Avocado Olive Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
I had to adjust this recipe becuase I did not have everything on hand, used white wine vinegar and a little lemon juice with the oil added garlic powder and red onion and salt and pepper, skipped the parmesan. It was really good, after it was in the fridge for a day and the avocados were really soft I used it as a sandwich spread, mushed it on a hard kaiser roll with Black Forest Ham, it was excellent. Even my skeptical hubby said it was good.

Mexican Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
This was just OK for us. It was a change from my usual creamy mushroom soup/onion/white wine sauce I usually make with pork chops.

Easiest Pot Roast Ever

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2005
The flavor was good but my roast came out very dry. I think the roast should be browned first, putting it in the crock pot raw made the veggies on the bottom look gray and almost unappetizing. Then having the beef cubes on top made dark spots on the roast. It tasted better than it looked. I think I will keep looking for a crock pot roast recipe.

Honey Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
The only change I made to this was to add some cayenne pepper for kick and some salt. It was awesome, loved the crunchy caramelized outside of the chicken.

Robbi's M&M Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
This is the only brown sugar based, chocolate chip type cookie recipe that I have ever found that did not spread flat as a pancake when baked, it was a little thicker and soft and chewy like store bakery cookies but tasted way better. I made a batch and just added the m&m's on top before baking then with the rest of the batter I stirred in white chips and dried cranberries, super yummy. You can do absolutely anything with this recipe and it freezes well. It's a keeper!

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
Better than my mom's and I love how it looks with the lattice top. This is the only recipe I use for apple pie. I do add some cinnamon to the sauce before pouring over the pie.

Beef Spinach Hot Dish

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
Pretty good but I had to add some milk to thin it down, it was super thick and sticky after adding the cheese. I also added some cooked egg noodles before baking to make it a little more hearty. While we were eating we thought it was good but needed something so we all stirred in some Worcestersire and that did the trick. Will probably make again with the egg noodles, milk and worcestershire.

Black Pepper Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2009
We love this, could not get the kids to try it but my husband and I love it. Just the right amount of pepper to give it spice. I boil up some oriental ramen noodles, drain the water and sprinkle the seasoning packet on the noodles then toss with the hamburger/cabbage mixture.

Rhubarb Jam

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2009
Loved this, I made one batch with half of the zest (all I got from the orange) and it was good, made another batch without the zest because I did not have any more oranges and it was good too. The batch with the zest turned out more brown in color and the batch without was more green, not sure why but both tasted good. This is my rhubarb jam recipe from now on!

Authentic German Bread (Bauernbrot)

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2009
I have a friend from Germany and it just kills her that she cannot get German bread here. I had wanted to make bread from scratch so I decided to try this for her. She said it is exactly like she gets in Germany and is so thankful that she can now get it in the states. She calls me her own personal baker. I personally do not like the bread, she says it is an acquired taste and the only American who she knows that likes it is her husband. We will be making this recipes very frequently.

Three-Cheese Jumbo Shells

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2009
My family really liked these, I cheated and used jarred sauce with the hamburger because I do not like the taste of tomato paste. This is basically the same as my lasagna recipe only with shells which I like because I think you get more of a pop of cheese flavor if you really stuff the shells good. I think I'd opt for this over lasagna most of the time. Thanks for the great recipe.

Basic Bean Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
I added a pound of ham and also a pound of bacon (fried before adding to the soup). I also used navy beans and the soup cooked really fast, it was done about an hour and a half sooner than I expected. This was sooooo good on a cold winter day. I can't wait to make it again!

Chicken Cheese Chowder

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
This was really good, the whole family liked it. I added a dash of cayenne pepper, just to give it a little spice, nothing crazy. I also topped mine with some diced tomato, just for the heck of it. Will make again.
