Roti Bread from India

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2005
I can't believe how something so simple can taste so good! I used half bread flour and half white whole wheat flour. I halved the recipe because I didn't want lots of leftovers...I'll never do that again! Husband loved it with tandoori chicken and red lentil dahl. Kids had it sprinkled with cinnamon sugar for dessert. Yum!

Lobster Bisque

Reviewed: May 31, 2005
This recipe is great and super simple! I chopped the onion and used whole milk and frozen lobster meat. No need to use cream or half and half, in my opinion.

Flax and Sunflower Seed Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2004
This bread is the best! I had it toasted with eggs this morning, with a turkey sandwich for lunch, and beside my salad at dinner! Next time I will probably add the sunflower seeds along with all of the other ingredients...I forgot to add them at the alert sound, so I had to mix them in by hand. I also might try grinding the seeds. My one young son is turned off by the look of the seeds, but I know he would love the flavor!

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2005
Loved 'em! The addition of the mustard and soy sauce seemed odd, but the burritos tasted great. I forgot to add the cheese inside the burritos, so I sprinkled it on top with some fresh cilantro. It made for a great presentation. I added the full cup of water...you just have to make sure the beans are mashed a bit and cook 'em long enough to absorb the water. I used sweet potatoes (not yams) and added them to the bean mixture before filling the burritos. Because I was skeptical of the recipe, I only made half (which made 8 burritos). Next time I'll make the whole amount!

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2005
My husband and I thought this was very good. A little too "spicy" according to our kids. Served with peas (good mixed in with the sauce) and Roti bread (from this site). Ended our Indian meal with some Chai tea and Kulfi (also from this site).

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2004
It just wouldn't be Thanksgiving without these sweet potatoes. I've been making it for years, and it's a hit every time. I've though about altering the recipe to "lighten it up," but why mess with perfection!

Chicken Fiesta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2004
This salad is so easy to prepare. We make it often. I usually don't heat the bean mixture, and I don't use the whole packet of fajita seasoning...too salty for me. It's good as is, but my husband like to add shredded cheddar and Southwest ranch dressing.

Hot Mexican Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2004
Delicious! I was looking for an alternative to the old Seven Layer Dip stand-by. I used 1/3 less fat cream cheese and fat free evaporated milk. Everyone loved it!

Sweet Corn Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2004
I made this side dish for a Mexican-style feast. Yum! I was debating whether to use a mix to save time...I'm glad I went with the recipe. It was worth it.

Beef Enchiladas II

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2004
I'm not a big enchilada fan, but my husband and his friends though these were great. I used "Red Enchilada Sauce" from this site instead of a mix.

Louisiana Shrimp Creole II

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2005
Super easy. Wouldn't change a thing - the spice is just right for me, and my husband just adds more hot pepper sauce at the table. Serve over white rice with corn bread on the side.

This bread is awesome right from the oven! I make several smaller loaves, and we use them for Cuban pork sandwiches. Fantastic!

Easy Sausage Strata

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2004
This is one of my stand-by recipes. It's so easy to adjust the ingredients for a different dish. I use ham and Swiss for Easter brunch...pork and cheddar for Chrismas morning. I love that it's make-ahead!

Paska Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2005
Very good, although I'll probably only make this bread for Easter. A lotta work and a lotta bread! I'll cut the recipe next time, even though it made the right amount for our Easter dinner. It was just too much dough to handle at once.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2004
This cheesecake is awsome! I baked in a water bath. I have to admit - I was a bummed when the baking time was complete. The cheesecake looked horrible! However, after it cooled in the oven for six hours, it was perfectly flat with no cracks! Served it with Supreme Strawberry Topping for Easter dessert.

I made this for a large family Easter dinner. I used chopped romaine. I love the peas in this salad. My husband and I devoured the leftovers the next day!
