Bread Machine Bagels

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2004
Who knew bagels were so easy to make! These are the best bagels we've had since moving away from NYC. I will never buy store-bought again!

Honey Wheat Sandwich Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2004
My family loved the taste and texture of these sandwich rolls. I will never buy from the bakery again. They are too easy to make!

Orange Glorious I

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2004
My kids inhaled this drink! Tastes like the "mall" variety. I also tried adding a banana as other reviewers suggested. My son (who claims to not like bananas) loved the additional ingredient!

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2004
This is now my official cornbread recipe! Here's how I tweaked the recipe (thanks to other reviewers): used 1/2 c whole wheat flour and 1/2 c all-purpose flour, 1/2 c sugar, 1/2 t salt, 2 t baking powder, and substituted buttermilk. Baked for 15 minutes in muffin pan.

Friendship Soup Mix in a Jar

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2004
I made this as part of a "dinner basket" for a new mom. I just used a pint jar, and left out the pasta. (I put it in a clear plastic bag tied up with a pretty ribbon.) The presentation was very pretty. I aslo made it for my family - minus the ground beef. Tasty! My husband can't wait to have it with the meat!

Super-Good Oatmeal

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2004
I can never eat plain oatmeal again! My husband loves this recipe as is. I usually omit the honey and add a shake of cinnamon and sometimes some raisins. Love it!

Supreme Strawberry Topping

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2004
This was the perfect simple topping served with Chantal's New York Cheesecake (on this site).

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2004
This cheesecake is awsome! I baked in a water bath. I have to admit - I was a bummed when the baking time was complete. The cheesecake looked horrible! However, after it cooled in the oven for six hours, it was perfectly flat with no cracks! Served it with Supreme Strawberry Topping for Easter dessert.

Fruit Salad in Seconds

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2004
I served this to my in-laws for brunch. They were discussing what could be in the salad dressing to make it taste so good. Imagine their surprise when I had to reveal that "secret ingredient" was strawberry yogurt! Quick, easy, and tasty. Does not keep well, though.

Easy Sausage Strata

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2004
This is one of my stand-by recipes. It's so easy to adjust the ingredients for a different dish. I use ham and Swiss for Easter brunch...pork and cheddar for Chrismas morning. I love that it's make-ahead!

Tomato Sauce with Sausage

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2004
This sauce was tasty and relatively quick to make. I used half the amount of olive oil, substituted Han's Garlic and Fontina Chicken Sausage, and served with whole wheat pasta. The fresh basil really makes this recipe!

Empanadas

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2004
I thought this dough was hard to work with. The end result tasted pretty good, but it didn't look so great.

Beef Enchiladas II

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2004
I'm not a big enchilada fan, but my husband and his friends though these were great. I used "Red Enchilada Sauce" from this site instead of a mix.

Sweet Corn Cake

I made this side dish for a Mexican-style feast. Yum! I was debating whether to use a mix to save time...I'm glad I went with the recipe. It was worth it.

Hot Mexican Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2004
Delicious! I was looking for an alternative to the old Seven Layer Dip stand-by. I used 1/3 less fat cream cheese and fat free evaporated milk. Everyone loved it!

Chicken Fiesta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2004
This salad is so easy to prepare. We make it often. I usually don't heat the bean mixture, and I don't use the whole packet of fajita seasoning...too salty for me. It's good as is, but my husband like to add shredded cheddar and Southwest ranch dressing.
