Grilled Portobello Mushrooms

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2014
Amazing! I served this with brown rice and grilled asparagus - very filling. I did change to olive oil and used half as much vinegar. In addition, I used the same amount of marinade on 2 caps. I think next time I will put a little shaved parmesan or romano cheese and pop them under the broiler for a minute or two. Yum!

Chinese Napa Cabbage Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2014
Amazing! I could not stop eating this. I used only about 1/2 of a packet of the seasoning mix to reduce the sodium, and it was still delicious. I recommend it highly. I brought it to a party and had to come home and make more.

Key West Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2014
I'm sorry to say I didn't like this at all. I followed the recipe to a T, but it just had a very "off" flavor. There was no distinction between the flavors and the combination just didn't suit me.

Quinoa with Peas

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2014
I did not care for this at all, though SO liked it. I followed the recipe to a T but still found it very bland. I'm not sure what I could alter to try again.

Basil Chicken over Angel Hair

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2014
Very good. I added fresh basil at the end and it really livened it up.

Enchiladas

Delicious! If it weren't so unhealthy (no judgement against the chef submitting the recipe- far from it) I would eat it every week.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2013
This was greasy and just tasted like canned soup. I followed the recipe to a T, so perhaps just a difference in flavor and texture preference.

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2013
5 stars for the pork chops, but 3 stars for the sauce. (It just didn't do it for me - too "mushroomy." We had to add a lot of seasoning to make it a bit less bland.) The meat was delicious and moist after 45 minutes for two thick boneless chops. Yum!

Arugula Salad with Cannellini Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2013
This was pretty underwhelming. I followed the recipe to a T with the exception of using fresh sage instead of dried (which should have increased flavor). The canned tomatoes seemed to overpower the taste of everything else. I may try fresh tomatoes.

Pan-Seared Tilapia

Reviewed: May 20, 2013
This was pretty good, although not out of this world. Next time I will probably try adding additional seasoning in addition to what was called for. Also, the fish was only lightly browned, as it was definitely done and would have gotten too dry to get it to the dark color in the photo. Everyone's stoves are different however, so I don't blame that on the recipe. I suppose I could try frying at a lower heat and see if that helps.

Cranberry Pear Compote

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2012
Simple and tasty. I added some dried cranberries but won't next time, as it added too much sugar for my taste. Yum!

White Peach Sangria

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2010
Very good! This would be 5 stars I'm sure, but I made some changes. Will re-rate when I try the original. I used nectarines and raspberries, and also added a 1/2 cup of triplesec. Cut with 7-up before serving. Deeeelish!

Asian Coconut Rice

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2010
Delicious! I had leftover cooked Jasmine rice (about 3 cups or so) and omitted the water. Comes out as a wonderfully delicate flavor that doesn't overpower the taste of the rice. This will be perfect under some shrimp scampi. Thanks Silvrezs!

Thai Curry Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
Amazing - incredible - delicious - wow. This is my favorite recipe on this site so far, both for the fact that I followed it almost exactly and that it turned out incredibly like the 'authentic' versions I've had before. I can see this becoming a regular part of my routine. The best part is the fluidity with the veggies and meat. You can really change it up, but I would recommend keeping the base consistent. Thank you Kaeli!!!

Cream of Fresh Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2009
This was very good, but after lots of changes: 4 large tomatoes, peeled, celery seed and basil, and only 1 3/4 c milk. Also pureed the veggies after cooking and added all back to pot. Could have used more tomato flavor - next time I'll probably use 6 or even 8 tomatoes.

My Navy Bean Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2009
This doesn't have to be such a long process - if you don't want to soak the beans overnight, instead boil for one hour. I did this and then cooked in my slowcooker on high for 3 1/2 hours - we still like them a bit firm w/ more broth, but another hour and it would be a good thick consistency a lot of folks like. Delicious flavor with a few cubes of chicken boullion.

Slow Cooker Chili II

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
This turned out very good after 3 hours on high in the crockpot. My husband loved it - added a bit more chili powder and called it good - but I thought it lacked a certain something... next time I might try more spices.
