What would be considered  the best moderate  beef selection for a slow cooker pot roast?

I agree with Nurse Ellen - I love a chuck roast - lots of flavor - but that's because there's lots of fat. Fat=Flavor!! However my DH does not like any fat taste in his beef, so I usually chose a Sirloin Tip for him. Still great taste - low fat - hubby happy. There are even leaner cuts like top round or bottom round - - you really need to slow cook these cuts as they are also tougher. I don't think they taste as good - but if your budget is tight - they still work - just be sure to season the meat very well and cook them in beef stock.

We like bottom round. It has good flavor and I like the texture better than chuck. Low and slow cooking is key.

The consensus in the responses is mostly Chuck roast.

I agree, chuck roast or boneless chuck.

I have, however, taken fairly thick cut flat iron steaks & browned them, put them in a slow cooker & they came out great, with veggies thrown in the last couple of hours.
