Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2014
Made this with tomatoes from my garden, so first I made them into stewed tomatoes using "Italian Stewed Tomatoes" recipe from this site. It's WONDERFUL! Then I ran out and made some with store bought stewed tomatoes and it was icky comparatively speaking.

Chef John's Succotash

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2014
This was a great way to use up little bits of everything! I didn't have a jalapeno or lima beans (and I omitted the cayenne) and it was DELISH!

Sesame Broccoli

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2014
This was great, and did need the tweaks provided by Judy, adding garlic and red pepper instead of green. You can't go wrong!

Whole Wheat, Oatmeal, and Banana Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2013
Made this just as directed, the only exception being that my bananas were frozen (freeze overripe bananas in their skins, then thaw under warm water until the skin slips off. Then I thaw completely in microwave and mash), and really small so I used 2. These were not overly banana flavored, just a hint of delish sweetness, with the nutty wheat and oats. Also used coconut oil in place of bad omega-6 veggie oil. They cook up wonderfully and were perfect just as written!!

Kosher Salt Encrusted Prime Rib Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2011
SO perfect! This recipe yields a perfect prime rib from end to end, be sure your thermometer is in the center, not touching a bone. Also instead of the seasoned salt we use montreal steak seasoning and some garlic powder with the pepper, then cover it with kosher salt.

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2011
great to work with, didn't have to add any extra cream. After being chilled overnight in the fridge it didn't melt after 2 hours in the heat of July for my son's birthday party, and I have had a lot of frostings melt off the cake! I used regular vanilla extract, just makes it slightly off-white, but I colored it too.

Filet Mignon with Rich Balsamic Glaze

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2010
good glaze, very balsamic! I added 2 T brown sugar, 1 T margarine, 1 T cornstarch and cooked it in a small sacuepan as we BBQ-ed the filets. My husband really liked it, I think I'd use more wine and less vinegar next time (1/4 c vinegar 3/4 c wine)

Snow Cone Syrup II

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2010
PERFECT syrup for snow cones. It's super easy and is inexpensive so having a bunch of flavors on hand is doable! If you need to cool it off fast stick it in the freezer. **UPDATE!!** my kids LOVE bubblegum and cotton candy flavors, but they're not available in Kool-Aid. SO I used a teaspoon (1 dram) of LorAnn candy flavoring oil, and voila!!
