Minestrone Soup I

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2005
Great starter recipe to personalize a minestrone. I like a more tomato base, so I added one 28oz can of tomato puree. Also good if you can add some zucchini squash and red beans.

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2005
I put in more like 2 cups freshly-squeezed orange juice. Cut to 1 tbsp cornstarch.

Sugar Cookie Drops

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2005
Excellent! Add a little more butter, flour, and salt. I also used the pulp of 1 vanilla bean instead of extract, and added some white chocolate morsels. To die for!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie II

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2005
Very good, I'd cut back on the sugar though. Too much sugar makes the pie very hard to cut when it sets. Add a little vanilla extract to the peanut butter mixture, too.

Cooking Light magazine's Chicken Parmesan

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2005
Even better with homemade marinara. I used extra cheese, too.

Macaroni And Cheese I

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2005
Use about a hundred times more cheese than it calls for. Even with that, fresh garlic and onion, seasoning, etc. it was still pretty bland. I might try it again.

Oma's Fabulous Matzo Ball Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2005
I used one onion, green onion, garlic, and parsley to roll into this mixture. In general matzo ball soup is bland, but this really kicked up the flavor.

Roast Chicken with Potato, Olives and Greek Seasoning

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2005
Excellent. I would cut the potatoes into thin slices instead of wedges, so they get crispy in the oven. I also used a lot more lemon juice than it calls for.

Cheese-Stuffed Shells in Marinara Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2005
Excellent, I have made this a few times. I think it helps to add some italian seasoning to the cheese, and use homemade red sauce.

Arrabbiata Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2005
Very good sauce, also very spicy. If you don't like your sauce hot, cut the red pepper flakes in half.

Hummus I

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2005
Pretty bland unless you add a LOT more lemon than it calls for. I also added the juice of one lime.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2005
I used fresh chopped garlic and onion, this is a great seasoning. I would make a little extra for 1 pound of beef, though.

Tomato Bisque II

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2005
Very good soup. I added oregano and about 1/3 cup red wine. Works just as well with canned tomatoes.

Pineapple Orange Sorbet

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2005
This is an EXCELLENT sorbet. I used the juice of about 8 oranges (or enough for 2 cups), pureed an entire pineapple, and the juice of a lemon instead of canned ingredients. Even better when made with an ice cream maker!

Roasted Lemon Herb Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2004
I used a lot more lemon than the recipe calls for. Also, a couple of fresh cloves of garlic instead of powder really helps out the flavor. I've made this many times, always a crowd-pleaser.

Sun-Dried Tomato Pesto

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2004
There was so much red wine and vinegar, I could hardly stand to eat it. Next time I'll put in maybe half of each.

Easy Fettucine Alfredo

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2004
I think this recipe is really good, bus some changes do have to be made. I took the advice of other commends and put in less lemon, more mlik, and added chopped garlic and onion. It was pretty easy to make. I also suggest you make the sauce the night before. The sauce was kind of chunky though, but adding some milk and putting it in a blender for a few seconds helped that.
