Neat Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2006
Very nice and neat! Made it last night for two families with kids and didn't have too much clean up. I enjoy more tomato flavor so I added a small can of Hunt's tomato sauce. Fantastic! Thanks for sharing! I'll keep this one!

Oven Fried Chicken II

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2006
Used pam cooking spray as suggested, but did everything else as directed. Just okay for us, nothing too special. For those of you more creative than me, I'm sure this would be a great base recipe for more exotic flavors. Thanks.

Baked Zucchini Chips

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2006
So good!!! I love ordering this out and I absolutely love that I can make this more healthy! I used Italian flavored bread crumbs and left over Panko (added season salt for more flavor) and used egg substitute. I'm SURE I used more of both than the recipe called for in order to make this more breaded. Also, make sure to press the "egged" zucchini into the mixture and then used up the remaining mixture, topping the zucchini with it. Very tasty!!!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies I

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2006
Husband requested the addition of chopped walnuts and Splenda instead of the white sugar. He and the kids loved them and they didn't last long! I thought they were a little on the dry side and may add some applesauce next time. If you have a big sweet tooth, like I do, you may prefer a different recipe. Five stars from the family and easy to make, can't ask for more than that!

Oven Baked Jambalaya

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2006
Yummy, a lot of work, but good!! It needed a little more heat for our taste, so I served it with Tobasco sauce. I bought a shrimp cocktail ring on sale at Vons and added the thawed shrimp in the last minutes of cooking as suggested by others. Thank you for the delicious recipe!!

Butterscotch Pumpkin Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2005
What a hit!! I didn't make the sauce since I was made it a day ahead. Heavier than a cake - more like a bread. Next time I'll put in extra butterscotch chips...what can I say, I have a sweet tooth!

Easy Pear Crisp

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2005
Used light butter - think I'll melt it next time before adding it to the food processor for a more uniform crumb topping. Yummy - thanks for the low-cal dessert recipe!!

Hummus III

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2005
Good base recipe. It tasted too lemony the first day, but then was perfect. I added a can of asparagus and red pepper flakes for a "gourmet" flavor. Yummy!

Mississippi Tea Cakes

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2005
Third time's a charm! My success includes adding a pinch more flour, using parchment paper, making them smaller (between the diameter of a quarter and half dollar - they will expand) and cooking them until they are just starting to brown. I was going to give up and just eat the dough (yes, other reviews were right - it's sinfully good) but I'm so happy that I took the time to make them successfully!

Watergate Cake III

Good. Nothing remarkable but everyone enjoys a baked good! I toasted extra coconut and sprinkled on top and used diet soda. Thanks for the recipe!

Old Fashioned Prune Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2005
This recipe made two 8x8 cakes and were done in 25 minutes at 350 degrees. I boiled the dried prunes and had them simmer for 10 minutes before I chopped them. Used splenda instead of white sugar and can't taste the difference. My old recipe has baking soda in the frosting and I would probably go back to that recipe for the topping, but otherwise very moist and tasty!

Asparagus Wrapped in Crisp Prosciutto

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2005
Delicious!! Super easy and really tasty. The asparagus is crisy and the prosciutto adds just the right amount of salt AND it's a good way to use up leftover prosciutto! Note to those counting Weight Watcher points, each roll is only one point!

Early Times Mint Julep Recipe

I really liked this method of making the simple syrup. To me the mint infuses better when the water is boiling. I made these with Maker's Mark - yummy!

Lower Fat Banana Bread I

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2005
Wonderful - very mild! Added three bananas as recommended by another reviewer to give the bread more banana flavor. I used Splenda instead of sugar and the top of the loaf started to brown about 40 minutes into cooking. At that time, I covered the top loosely with foil and finished cooking. Gave five stars even though my preference is towards the sweeter breads. Thanks Lauren!!

Stuffed Mushrooms with Spinach

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2005
Awesome! Took the suggestion of melting the butter and dipping the mushroom bottoms in it versus butter the dish. Was worried that the mushrooms might be overcooked, so in my oven I only cooked them for 20 minutes, then turned off oven and they cooked/sat another 5 min. Will definitely make again!!

Super Easy Salmon Cakes

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2005
True to their name indeed! I thought it could use a little more kick, think I'll try Italian flavored bread crumbs next time instead of the crackers. It was hot today and I didn't want to turn the oven on, so I just fried them for about 3-4 min. per side and it worked out just fine. My 15 month old loved them! Thanks Marianna!!

My Mom's Swiss Steak

Reviewed: May 29, 2005
Good base recipe. I floured and seasoned my steaks first and then pounded them down. Then I browned my steaks in half butter/half oil mixture before returning vegtables and added a can of tomato soup. Really tasty, I will keep this recipe and keep trying variations. (Wish I would have made mashed potatoes with this!)

Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Whole family liked it. Used real Michigan maple syrup and whipping cream instead of milk. Didn't have the trouble with the boiling time as another reviewer did. Served with jerk chicken and fresh gold pineapple. Will make again. Thanks!!

Baked Havarti Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2005
This dish really surprised me. I LOVED the unique flavor the Greek seasoning gave the chicken - you have to use it to get the full effect of this dish! I "googled" for the recipe since I didn't have it in the pantry. I used: salt, pepper, oregano, onion powder, garlic powder, nutmeg, cinnamon and parsley flakes. Also doubled the sauce. Fantastic and different! Thanks for the recipe!!
