Slow Cooker Moroccan-Style Chicken and Potato Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2008
Zesty, aromatic, surprising taste blend! I diced potatoes and onions rather than use the packaged mix, and removed skin on drumsticks to cut fat, but otherwise kept to the recipe. Might cut back on red pepper for less spicy palates. A great choice for a cool evening meal!

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2008
Added double the garlic (no vampires here!!) and tried parmesan/romano mix with the seasoned breadcrumbs for an extra tasty treat. Thanks for a quick, easy chicken recipe!

Cheesy Potato Kugel

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
I halved the recipe, used frozen shredded hash browns, and used salt free Spike rather than salt, but otherwise kept to the recipe. Good taste, but next time I think I'll do more to spice it up a bit. Looking forward to some leftovers tomorrow for breakfast...! Thanks for a good potato side-dish!!

Honey-Garlic Glazed Meatballs

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2008
Looking for meatballs to take to a potluck. Great choice, with a few changes. I doubled the sauce (will triple next time) and added more honey as suggested by others. Also added a mix of teriyaki and soy sauces. Nice tangy-sweet taste, stayed together well in the crockpot... Let's see how the folks in the office like them!!

Salmon Loaf

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2008
Wanted to like this recipe more than I actually did. I too added some extra flavors to spice it up (salt-free Spike, lemon pepper, onion...) but the problem was the consistency. Perhaps doubling the recipe would make a better loaf (?) I wanted to give the loaf a try, but found myself wishing that I had made patties instead... Not bad, but not great.

Veggie Cheese Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2008
Great light veggie dish or brunch treat! Easy to modify with non-fat cottage cheese and sour cream. Next time I'll add more variety of veggies-maybe spinach, shredded carrots, onions, peppers... And also spice it up more as well w/ garlic, cayenne, but fine as is. Thanks!

Zucchini Cornbread Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2008
Great recipe! I decided to dice rather than shred the zucchini/yellow squash mix, and mixed mexican blend of cheese in completely with batter, but otherwise left this easy side the same. Also used a zesty no-salt mix to cut back on salt, and will add more spice next time to bring out flavors... Great late summer, early fall treat!! Thanks...!!

Slow Cooker Lasagna

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2008
It's already been said, but this is a wonderful time-saver with plenty of room for adapting/changing for taste or time. I also used (nonfat)ricotta, my own sauce, and chopped spinach, carrots, and zucchini in the cheese mixture. Great for a hot night when you don't want to turn on the oven. Mmmm!

Pear Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2008
Had a wonderful crop of pears this summer, so I've been searching for interesting pear recipes. This is an easy, adaptable recipe with great results! I cut back on the sugar, added honey, cinnamon and cloves. Make sure that the pears are well ripened to give full flavor! Thanks!!

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
What can I say that 3000+ people haven't already said?! I used just 2lbs of roast, so cut back on the soup (low sodium cream of mushroom) half an envelope of onion soup mix and some chopped up red potatoes, onions and carrots. Skipped the water by accident, and gravy consistency was perfect! Quick and easy to prepare in the morning and come home from work to a fine dinner. Plan to experiment in the future with different soups/soup mixes... Thanks!

Carrot Casserole

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
Good basic recipe! I didn't have cream of celery soup, so used (low sodium) cream of mushroom, and added no salt Spike rather than the salt and pepper, but otherwise stayed with the original recipe. I could see myself making it again, perhaps adding a mix of veggies and/or mushrooms... Great comfort food! Thanks!!

Beer Beef Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2008
Quick, easy and wonderfully flexible recipe! I followed advice of previous reviewers and cut amounts on both broth and beer, and the consistency came out just right. Also added flour (cut out salt, plenty in broth and tomato sauce/paste) and spice (added curry, my favorite-- See spicy slow-cooker beef stew w/ curry...Mmmm!!) all together in plastic bag and shook to coat. Might leave out the cabbage next time, but it was fine. Thanks for a cold weather keeper!!

Spicy Beef Curry Stew for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2008
Great cold night recipe! I didn't brown the meat in advance, just mixed it with flour in plastic bag. Added carrots, potatoes, onions and green peppers to slow cooker, then mixed spices and tomatoes in a separate bowl and poured over meat and veggies. Voila, an easy, tasty treat!!! I liked the extra heat from jalapenos (w/ canned tomatoes) but they can easily be left out. Thanks!!

Guilt-Free Mac 'n' Cheese

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2008
Mild as is, easy to prepare. Will try it again with more spices, to add a bit more zest. Also does not need as long in oven as stated by recipe. Thanks for a great "guilt free" treat!!

Cornbread Casserole

Followed the recipe pretty closely, but it came out very "gluey" in texture. Taste not bad, but there are similar, yet better recipes for this on this site.

Granny's Banana Bread

Mmmm! Thanks for the lower fat, healthy recipe! Followed directions just about exactly (minus nuts/raisins and 1/2 the sugar) and baked to a perfect texture in 1 hour. Great spice mix!!

Grandma's Slow Cooker Vegetarian Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2007
Great veggie recipe!! Easy prep and lots of opportunity to add/subract for personal taste. The hotter the better for me, which means more chili powder, cayenne, and possibly a couple of cans of rotel tomatoes... Everyone loved it at the office potluck and no one missed the meat.

Salsa Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2007
Quick and easy... I think I'm going to look around for a different taco mix, or make my own, as I think what I used over-powered the chicken. Otherwise, it's a convenient, flavorful way to serve Mexican-style chicken.

Mexican Rice I

Mmmm, easy, tasty... I'd agree to go for the ro-tel/Mexican-style canned tomatoes; otherwise followed the recipe pretty closely. Used low salt chicken bouillion broth and just a dash more salt. Thanks!
