Awesome Green Beans

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2005
I made this recipe with the meat of choice being Jimmy Dean's spicy sausage. The only exception was to add some mushrooms which were sauted with the onions and garlic. I gave this five stars because my wife raved about how good the green beans were. I thought it's one of the best ways to prepare green beans that I've had yet!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2005
Yummy, yum, yum!! This has to be a hit with everyone... I added about 1/4 cup of cream cheese and it wasn't bland at all!

Prime Rib Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2005
A good prime rib dinner is my all time favorite and this recipe was really good but not the best that I've made. For some reason the orange marmalade left an after taste. I've never had a bad prime rib but some recipes are better than others so I'll stick to my regular way to prepare.

Florentine Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2005
The only problem with this is that it makes a lot for just two people. However, it is so much better than the dip you can buy at the supermarket.

Deviled Eggs I

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2005
I did use more mayo and replaced the powdered mustard with prepared mustard. I thought the eggs were really good and reminded me of the ones Mom use to make.

Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2005
This is a really easy recipe and both my wife and I really liked it. We both had seconds. I did scale down the recipe for two and added some chopped up onions before putting in the oven. I forgot to add the sherry but it was still really good. I may have boiled the potatoes a bit longer than I should have but I think this may have been one of the things I liked about this. The corn flakes toping was a great idea.

Stir Fried Snow Peas and Mushrooms

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2005
Snow peas are one of my favorite veggys. I made two changes to this recipe. First I used butter instead of olive oil 'cause I don't care for olive oil and second I added a few chopped up green onions. It's a great side dish when you want something different.

Suzy's Mashed Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2005
The only change I made was to peal the red potatoes before I cooked them. The potatoes were good but I really weren't that much different than russet potatoes.

Cream Peas

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2005
I left out the sugar, added some onions and used half and half. Excellent way to make fancy peas!

Artichoke Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2005
Five stars does not do this justice. I used chicken tenders instead of breast. I also mashed the artichoke mixture with a potato masher until it was a paste and covered the entire chicken with the mixture. For a little extra flavor, I added sauted onions and mushrooms to the top of the paste five minutes before I took it out of the oven. My wife said this was by FAR the best chicken she had ever eaten!! I don't think I could ever tire of this recipe and I can't wait to make it again! Thank you Ardrury for the best chicken recipe ever!

Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies II

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2005
I baked mine a little too long... I would suggest baking eight minutes and check. Another suggestion is to bake only one cookie sheet at a time so the air can circulate around the cookies otherwise the bottom of the cookies are done before the tops. I would also use a little less sugar as they were a little to sweet for my taste. However even with my mistakes, the cookies were still good!

Pork Chops and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2005
I didn't change anything but I would recommend draining the sauerkraut before adding to the skillet. The apple juice gives it plenty of moisture to keep it from burning. I did brown the pork chops first as some of the other reviewers suggested. I didn't think there was enough sauerkraut and next time I'll make with 32 ounces. This is an excellent way to satisfy your craving for sauerkraut!

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2005
I'll sure be making this recipe again! The best mac and cheese yet.. I added some onions 'cause I like them so much and I did add a little milk as others suggested. I would recomend at least 1/3 cup of milk or it will be rather dry... still good but dry. I also used roasted garlic bread crumbs and WOW did that ever add the flavor. I had three helpings and my wife had two! This one hit my taste buds just right!

Cauliflower with Dijon Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2005
This is one of my all time favorite side dishes. I've always used a whole head of cauliflower instead of the florets and broil it in the regular oven like the previous reviewer. There are never any left overs with this treat!

Easy Pork and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2005
I think the secret of this recipe is to start with a good tasting sauerkraut. I made the recipe exactly as written with the exception of adding a few caraway seeds. I also used sliced kielbasa instead of the pork. My wife even commented on how great this turned out. Five stars for sure!

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2005
I made this exactly as written and was a little disappointed. Not that it tasted bad... it just didn't taste like grandma use to make... I'm still looking for a recipe that taste like hers. I did purchase a cast iron skillet 'cause I know that's what she used. Next time I'll use the cast iron skillet and see if that makes a difference. The corn bread was good but it just wasn't what I expected.

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2005
I used a 2 pound roast and it was so tender that it fell apart. I left out the celery and used more onions than called for. I couldn't taste much difference than other recipes of roast beef so I only gave it three stars. The finished product was pretty good though....
