Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2006
This was terrific! I made this exactly like written with the exception of leaving out the ketchup. My wife really liked this also! I think this is something the kids would like as well.

Italian Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2006
Absolutely delecious!! I've made this countless times always with delecious results every time. Most of the time I make it withoug any additions but sometimes I'll add an onion and two small potatoes. I also use HOT Italian sausage for that extra zing.... Five star soup for a cold winter day!!!

Baked Macaroni and Cheese I

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2006
I made this without any changes. I think the onions really made the dish. I would recommend this to anyone who loves macaroni and cheese.

Corned Beef and Cabbage II

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2006
I made this in the slow cooker and cooked on high for six hours. The meat was so tender you could eat with a fork. I forgot to add the parsley and the butter at the end and it was still perfect. Next time I'll add a little more onion.

Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2006
Easy to make and tastes really good. I made this without any changes. My wife enjoyed this as well. The first thing I noticed about this was how moist the chicken turned out. I did have to bake a little longer because the chicken breast I had were thicker.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2006
For such a simple little recipe, this made a very tasty dinner. I used fairly thick chicken breast so I did have to bake a little longer. The thing I noticed most about this chicken recipe was that it turned our very moist. Instead of baking at 425 for 30 minutes, I covered the dish and baked at 350 degrees for 40 minutes then removed the cover and baked for another 10 minutes. I think this may have been the reason it was so moist.

Party Pinwheels

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2006
I made these for a Superbowl party and got really good reviews from everyone. The host ask me where I had bought them! I did add one thin slice of ham to each one. They are easy to take to a party; just take them whole and slice them when you get there.

Tater Tot Bake

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2006
This recipe will surprise you... It's easy to make and it tastes great. I make this with all the same ingrediants but I have the tater tots on top of the cheese. Either way, everyone will like this!

Mushroom Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2006
I like meatloaf on occasion and I like mushrooms with just about anything... but I didn't care for the two of them together as much as I thought I would.

Sour Cream and Chive Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2006
My wife and I really like this recipe. I used one green onion (don't use too many green onions because they can overpower the potatoes. I like my mashed potatoes a little more creamy that my wife, so just use enouth milk to make it the consistency you want.

Broiled Lobster Tails

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2006
This is the best way I've found to fix whole lobster tails. However, you have to be careful with the time of 5 to 10 minutes.... I used two 5 oz. tails and the broiling time was more like 12 to 15 minutes. Be sure to watch the time carefully. It's better to cook a minute or so longer than not cooking long enough. Lobster is my favorite food and this is my favorite way to prepare it!

Pickled Red Beet Eggs

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2006
I have never ate pickled eggs before so I have nothing to compare them to. I followed the recipe exactly and I REALLY like them! I never cared for plain hard boiled eggs but I really do like them pickled!

Apple Maple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2006
I've made this several times and it has become one of our favorite treats. Yesterday, when I made this, I didn't have oats on hand so I used 1/2 cup of corn flake crumbs instead. Both my wife and I thought the corn flake crumbs were even better that the oats! I also have cut down on the syrup to 1/2 cup and there is plenty to cover all the apples. Before I put the syurp onto the apples, I sprinkeled cinnamon and nutmeg on the apples. I highly recommend the cinnamon. I can't imagine anyone not liking this!

Quiche Lorraine II

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2006
I added an extra egg and fresh mushrooms. I also used only 1 1/3 cups of milk and it came out perfect for us. My wife and I liked this a lot and both had seconds. If you like quich, you'll certainly like this. The left overs are were just as good the next day! I give this one five stars!

Southern Fried Cabbage

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2006
I made this mostly for myself and I didn't think my wife would care that much for it but I think she liked it as much as I did. I did change a couple of things... First, I added 1/2 pound of kielbasa sliced into 1/2 inch slices. I didn't use any of the veggy oil and only 1 tablespoon of butter and I added a few caraway seeds. I cooked the cabbage a bit longer than 10 minutes until it was very tender. The result was perfect.

Mom's Buttermilk Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2006
This is only the second time I've tried to make biscuits and I thought these came out really good. Sometimes it's the simple things that come out really good and this is one of those things. I just patted out six good size biscuits ('cause that's the way my grandmother use to make her biscuits) and put them on the cookie sheet. It did take a little longer to bake because I made them a little larger than called for. I'll use this recipe again!

Scrumptious Salisbury Steak in Mushroom Gravy

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2006
I was plesantly surprised at how good this came out. I made the meat without any changes but I bought some gravy at the market eariler and wanted to use it up so I sauted the mushrooms then added the gravy and cooked with the meat. I did use a little more onions and mushrooms than were called for. I fixed this with mashed potatoes, carrots and biscuit bread. Both my wife and I thought it was a wonderful meal. It doesn't taste anything like the TV dinner.... this is a good, easy to fix meal and I highly recommend trying it.
