About this Cook
My interest in cooking came in college. I was a hotel and restaurant major. We were not taught to cook in this major, just manage. Being away from home and living with 4 guys and great friends we LOVED to cook. My roommate and I made about 3-4 meals per week. We also had a friend Maryann who was a great Italian cook. She would spoil us with great pasta dishes and desserts to die for. Truthfully I should have made a career in cooking. Today I mostly cook for my family. My wife is not into cooking at all. So it's me or dinner out. My 8 year old daughter has great interest in cooking and I hope she'll love the art as well.
My favorite things to cook
-grilling -crockpot cooking -baking -casseroles
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love that it is all about family, good food and being thankful for what was, is and going to be. There is no pressure for gifts, decorations, parties and a solid month of getting it right. I also love fall and the cool weather this time of year offers.
My cooking triumphs
Thanksgiving 1991. I lived on the 24th floor of a hi rise condo. I was having my brother and friends over for dinner. As the food was half was finished cooking the power went out. I had to carry a full meal with bird down 24 flights of stairs and finish and serve dinner at my brothers house. I actually finished the bird in a microwave oven. Dinner was w success. Believe it or not the bird was very tasty.
My cooking tragedies
To many to remember.

Easy German Chocolate Cake Cookies
I typed in easy cookie receipt and this one caught my eyes. We just made them for Christmas cookies. They are really good but, do not make them if you are not ok with coconut. If you like German Chocolate then these are for you. They are very cakey in the middle. Enjoy.

Macaroni and Cheese Southern Style
I googled a Mac & cheese receipt and yours looked easy and the reviews sold me. It was for a church group X-mas dinner. I doubled the receipt and could not wait to try. By the time I got to my Mac & cheese on the buffet my huge Casserole was about gone. Everyone was raving how good it was. Thanks Chris for posting. Oh, my wife was very skeptical on how good it could be. She apologized and agreed it was easy and a hit. "Dodged that bullet".
