Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
Great taste, texture, and size! This was my first attempt at making snickerdoodles, and they got gobbled up in no time flat. Had an awesome crunchy outer layer and nice and soft on the inside.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
These were great hot and reheated (with some margerine!), but pretty disappointing otherwise. They were crumbly and didn't have normal yummy muffin density. The batter was so thick I had to jam each of the blueberries in place or they would just roll off. Three stars because we finished 'em off, but wouldn't repeat.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
Verrrry rich. The chocoholics loved it, but I don't think I'll make it again based on my family's tastes. Other reviews commented on the texture, but I followed the recipe exactly and thought it had a normal brownie density.

Shrimp and Broccoli

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
Not too shabby!! My hubby made this because it was so easy, and it was quick and tasty as well. I probably wouldn't make it for company but it's great for week nights after work.

Ginger Glazed Mahi Mahi

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
I've made this a few times now and I've made a couple changes to suit our tastes. I doubled the ginger and garlic. I placed the fish and marinade in a casserole dish, let it sit in the fridge 20 mins, then put the casserole dish in the over and baked it for 20 mins at 400. It's good pan-fried too, but baking it cooks it evenly so it stays juicy and really soaks up the marinade. Also I find the oil spits and makes a huge mess when made in the pan. Delish and no mess after!

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
This was just ok and I don't think I'd make it again. My hubby and I both found it pretty plain, so I think we'll go back to regular fajitas. Also, I sauted the chicken over medium heat for maybe 5 minutes - not medium-high heat for 20 minutes!

Pastry Cream

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
Perfect! This was exactly what I looking for. I served it as a filling in crepes with some berries for dessert and the taste and consistency were right on. I took the advice of others and stirred it like a mad woman after returning it to the heat, but it still clumped as it thickened. I think maybe the trick is in whisking the corn starch into the sugar so the corn starch isn't in little clumps to begin with. The lumps really weren't noticeable though. Great recipe!

Double Chili Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
I'm giving this a 4 because I thought it was a 3, but ALL my guests raved about it. I found it a little bland, but my tastes seem to be spicier than most. Next time I think I would mix cumin into the cream cheese and put some chopped cilantro on top. It must be good as is though because everyone thought it was so good.

Strawberry Spinach Salad I

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2009
This is the ultimate salad! I've been making this year round for over a year and exactly as shown. However, I find the recipe makes WAY too much dressing so I usually half the dressing and double the spinach. Then it's perfect for us!

Cran-Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2009
I'm giving this a 4 because I thought it was alright, but my husband LOVED it. I prefer my broccoli salad creamy but he really enjoyed the tanginess. As a bonus it was really easy to make.

California Salad Bowl

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
Extremely tasty salad! The dressing is unique and makes all the difference. I've made this for several different groups of company and always got requests for the recipe (including my very picky, non-salad eating teenage sister-in-law). We either use black olives or omit them altogether. Also do not add the dressing until you're ready to serve as the corn chips will soak it up and get soggy. It still tastes great, but the texture isn't so nice.

Three Bean Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
I've tried making this twice and it is alright but not great. The vinegar is overwhelming (smell and taste). I think I'll be looking for a new bean salad recipe.

Cheesy Potatoes II

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
Delicious!! I've been making this recipe for a few years now exactly as shown and it's always a big hit. I like it a little crispy though so I usually up the temp to 400 or broil it on low for the last 5 mintues. We serve it with ham and it makes tons but there's usually little left over because everyone gobbles it.

Pancakes I

These have become our staple pancakes for weekend breakfasts. They're great as is, but it's perfect for us with 1 tsp. vanilla.

Jennifer's Granola

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
Great tasting easy granola! I too substituted bran for the wheat germ and flax and I mixed ALL my wet ingredients together before adding to the oats/nuts. I think it was evenly coated this way. I baked it for the full hour, and stirred it every twenty minutes and it came out nicely toasted. It doesn't really clump but I put it in yogurt with some berries and it's yummy!

Favorite Barbecue Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
Fantastic!! I doubled the recipe so we'd have leftovers for lunch tomorrow (and used my Betty Crocker instead of a BBQ because it's winter) but my hubby had seconds, so no leftovers after all! The sauce was AMAZING and the chicken was evenly cooked and juicy.

Honey Mustard Salad Dressing

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
This was great! I followed it exactly and yes, it is a little runny, but it was delicious - sweet and tangy. I used it on a broccoli salad, which I think suited the consistency well.
