Italian heart, Irish attitude. I am an artist and musician with a love for cooking. Currently living in Pittsburgh, AKA The Steel City. I'm a proud Pitt alum and devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins.
I've thrived on quick and experimental recipes for quite some time, but a new job/better income has opened up doors for me to explore my cooking talents!
My favorite things to cook
Italian. Chicken. Steak. Want to learn how to cook Asian-style food at home. I'm also working on collecting a wide array of appetizer recipes for game-watch parties with friends.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I've always watched my mother and my beloved late Grammy cook, and I quietly picked up on their methods. My mom always gives me tips to master recipes and doctor up foods. Mom's roast is always sublime. When I'd stay with my Grammy she'd always make the best meals.
My cooking triumphs
I was a broke college grad for a good while (who hasn't?) and had to work with the basics most time. Chicken marinated in Italian dressing overnight was always satisfying with some rice and veggies. I have a quick and basic Parmesan crusted chicken recipe that is a hit with the roommate and friends. And last but certainly not least I have a Pesto Cream Sauce that I've doctored up. It's a fan favorite.
When my Grammy passed away unexpectedly in September 2013 I was devastated. A week or so after she passed I attempted at recreating her spaghetti sauce. Somehow I nailed it perfectly. It was a bit emotional and yet I was ecstatic that I could carry on her legacy and masterpiece of a sauce recipe.
My cooking tragedies
I've never really "ruined" a steak, but I know I can do better. Something I definitely want to work on.
