Fresh Asparagus Soup

Reviewed: May 21, 2012
This was o.k. but a little too creamy. I followed recipe but used "no chicken" broth and greek yogurt. Next time I'll use less soy milk and yogurt and more broth, that way the asparagus flavor won't be too diluted either.

Bacon Wrapped Dates Stuffed with Blue Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2012
I turned the dates at 20 minutes and took them out after 10 more minutes and the bacon was almost burnt and most of the cheese melted out. Next time I will not cook them as long and/or lower the oven temp to 350. Glad I wasn't making them for guests.

Black Bean and Salsa Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2011
Easy, fast, and yummy. This is one of my weeknight staples with mushroom and spinach quesadillas. I use hot salsa and add a chopped up jalepeno in the blender for some kick.

The Best Vegetarian Chili in the World

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
I would not make this again. I'm shocked so many reviewers find this spicy. I was adding cayenne pepper to up the spice level. I used mild green chiles, jalapeno, and regular chili powder, maybe that's why? Chili powder is not spicy, cayenne is. I didn't find this chili flavorful enough, spicy or not. I feel like I should have doubled the spices. Also, not a fan of adding fake/processed meat when there's already plenty of protein in here.

Scott Hibb's Amazing Whisky Grilled Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
I used this recipe the first time I ever made ribs and they were fantastic -- I continue to use this recipe. I do not add liquid smoke because I don't like the flavor. I used cayenne pepper when it calls for red chile pepper (i assume they are the same since ground cayenne is a ground red chile??) which gives the sauce a spicy zing. Obviously, cut back on the cayenne if you don't like spicy.

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
The first bite with the balasamic butter sauce was good, but then I just felt it was too strong of a taste. I think you really need to just barely drizzle it on. I won't be making the sauce again. I usually steam my asparagus but when I tried a spear just out of the oven (prior to putting sauce on it), I thought it was delicious. Next time I make asaparagus I will be roasting it based on the directions in the recipe.

Sour Cream Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
The pork chops were very tender but very bland. I'm sure this is a good base recipe but you'd need to add a lot to it to make it good. I would not make this dish again. I will be looking for another recipe for crock pot chops that has flavor.

Penne with Garlicky Broccolini

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2008
I used Italian turkey sausage instead of bacon, whole wheat pasta, and broccoli. Broccolini was $4.99 for a small package at my organic grocery store so I decided to pass on it. I thought the flavor was o.k, but it was dry even with olive oil. I think using this recipes as a side dish, and adding some tomato would make it more appealing. I would make again because it is so easy and fast.

Antipasto Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2007
I have made this pasta salad many times for different events; picnics, work potlucks, & football parties. I never have leftovers. This is the best pasta salad recipe I have found so far and tastes good for several days (be sure to mix up well and add more oil/vinegar if necessary). I usually don't add pepperoni since I'm not a fan.
