Flan Mexicano (Mexican Flan)

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2012
This was outstanding! I used all the ingredients but omitted the orange juice, orange peel and cornstarch. I used evaporated milk in place of the orange juice and I put the pie plate(didn't have flan mold) in the roasting pan without the damp towel. My mom and brother are big fans of flan and said that this was the best they ever had. Thanks for posting!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2012
Growing up in an Italian home, this recipe is a bit similar to what my mom used. She used the pork, veal and beef mixture and maybe 1 can of paste. No fennel seeds. Used fresh basil instead of dried (big difference!) and maybe 1 tbs. sugar. Everything else is the same.

Salmon Cakes II

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2012
These were fabulous! I used 3- 6oz. cans (skinless and boneless) that I've purchased through price club. I didn't have fresh parsley so I used dried. Didn't have Cheddar cheese on hand so I used 1/4 cup grating chesse instead. Didn't use butter (I forgot) just olive oil and it still came out great! Will double up next time on hot pepper and Worcester sauce for more kick. Great with a tossed salad on the side. My son said it tasted like tuna so..BRAINSTORM.. after running out of salmon, I used canned solid white tuna with the same ingredients. Still good but salmon was better.

Mary's Meatloaf

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2012
I was looking for a great meatloaf recipe and this wasn't it. Too much onion and the hot ketchup/mustard mixture on top was a turn-off for my kids. We picked at it. Sorry :(

Cola Pot Roast II

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2011
It only took me almost 20 years of marriage to finally get an awesome recipe for pot roast. Made just a couple of modifications. I first seared the roast on all 4 sides in a fry pan with 2 tbs. olive oil about 2-3 minutes per side. I put the roast into a dutch oven instead of a regular pan. Instead of 3 carrots, I used a whole bag (I used fresh carrots, what a difference!). I also added 1 small can of beef broth along with the ingredients to make more of this awesome gravy. This one is a keeper!

Slow Cooker Sweet and Tangy Chicken

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
This dish had a strange aroma when I came home from work. Even my kids said that it smelled "funky". I should've realized that onion don't go with pineapple but gave it chance after reading the great reviews. The onion was what made the "funky" smell. Maybe it should've been omitted?!?! Just my opinion. We ordered a pizza. Sorry :(

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2008
I never had any luck making pot roast. It would either come out too tough or just very bland. I found this recipe and viewed most of the ratings to help me determine whether or not I should make it. Glad I did! Took the advice from another reviewer and used beef stock instead. Got great comments from my hard-to-please husband and kids. My husband suggested to use 1 can beef gravy and 1 can of cream of mushroom instead of 2 for next time. Alot of sauce left over so I poured it over egg noodles as a side dish and used some grating cheese to top it off. Very good!

Maryland Crab Cakes III

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2005
These were okay. Easy to make but it tasted too salty. Perhaps too much Old Bay Seasoning?!? I didn't taste the crabmeat at all and I LOVE crabmeat. Next time I will cut back on the seasoning and add alittle more of the crabmeat.

Fruit Dip II

Reviewed: May 30, 2005
I noticed that this wasn't enough for a big crowd so I doubled the ingredients. It was a big hit for both adults and children. This is also good with celery sticks and cut up broccoli. My mom put a spoonful of this on top of a brownie and that was even better. We give this 2 thumbs up!
