Banana Bread - Quick Bread for Machines

Reviewed: May 4, 2004
I thought this recipe was terrific! I took the advice of the others I saw and added 1 tsp vanilla extract and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. I also added 1/2 cup chopped walnuts. When I ran out of walnuts I added 1/2 cup chocolate chips, delicious! It's also good with 1/4 cup chopped walnuts and 1/4 cup chocolate chips...the best of both worlds. My hubby's hooked on this bread, as am I!

Strawberry Bread III

Reviewed: May 27, 2004
Sorry, but this recipe did not work at all for me. I put it in for the 45 minutes and it wasn't done. So I kept baking it at 15 minute intervals....until I reached almost two hours in the breadmaker. It still wasn't done on the inside and when I did take it out, it was getting burnt on the outside. This was the first time that a recipe didn't work in my breadmaker. I followed the directions....I don't know what happened. I'll still with the banana chocolate chip nut bread.

Orange Sherbet II

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2004
This became an instant hit with my husband. My daughter had fun making it with me, but didn't like having to wait so long...it took most of the day to get done. The taste was great but my daughter was disappointed that it wasn't very orange in color. I will definately be making this again and maybe I will try some of the changes that other made to experiment a bit.

Carrot Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2004
This is excellent! It tastes wonderful, I can't wait for my husband to come home and try it. I feel like it might be missing one small thing, but I can't put my finger on it. Until then, I'm going to have a little more with some bread & butter. Maybe I'll make this for Thanksgiving for a change of pace! UPDATE: 1/23/07 - Made it again. This time the hubby made a suggestion to add a little milk to the pot. Wow! That had to be what I was missing before. Mmmmmm!

Easy Vegetable Beef Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2004
Good recipe. I liked it, but it didn't hit the spot for my daughter. She's four and loves Denny's vegetable beef soup.....kinda hard to mimic that. Anyway, I think if beef broth/stock is used instead of water it tastes better. Even then, there was still something I couldn't quite put my finger on. Still good and still in my recipe box!

Slow Cooker Scalloped Potatoes with Ham

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2004
Excellent! I've been looking for a good scalloped potatoes and ham recipe and now I've finally found it! I wasn't' sure at first because it really doesn't call for a lot of cheese and while it was cooking I just didn't see how it was going to come together, but when it did...wow! Thank you!

Mashed Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2004
I made this for Thanksgiving last year and it was a hit. Made it again this year at my husband's request! However, I used Eggo Buttery Syrup and didn't have to use any actual butter in it at all! It's so simple and very tasty!

This was a great recipe! I did change one thing: I substituted a red bell pepper for the mushrooms. It turned out wonderful! My family loved it!

Excellent! My family loved it! I thought there was a little too much vanilla but I guess that was just me.

Lemon Meringue Icebox Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2005
My husband didn't care for it, he said the meringue was eggy. Go figure. I got compliments from everyone else that tried it. One weird thing though, the recipe calls for vanilla but no where in the directions does it tell you to use the vanilla.

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2005
The one hour in the oven was a little long so mine came out a little on the dry side. But the family loved it! Can't wait to try it again.....but decrease the baking time. I also didn't have any Worcestershire Sauce so I replaced it with Oyster Sauce. Something else I did with the leftovers the next night: marinated pork fried rice. I just put the leftovers in the food processor with a litle soy sauce and shredded them. Then I lightly fried it in a pan with some vegetable oil. Added the cooked rice and a little more soy sauce until the rice was light brownish. Mixed it all up and served it with broccoli. Delicious!

Applesauce Doughnuts

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2005
Excellent! In making this I learned I had run out of nutmeg...but they tasted great without it! My husband and daughter loved 'em! They're even better when you dip 'em in sugar!

Chocolate Cupcakes

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2006
I followed the recipe to the T. I thought the cupcakes turned out on the dry side but everyone that tried them said they were great. I'm definately going to try this again to see if my dry outcome was a fluke. I found this recipe so easy to do.

Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork BBQ

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2006
Oh wow! Absolutely scrumptious! I read most of the reviews and took some of those suggestions when making this. I added three minced cloves of garlic and some onion flakes. I sprinkled the roast with salt & pepper and then seared it before putting it in the slow cooker. It cooked all day and smelled delicious when we got home. After six hours it really did fall apart easily. I took about a third of the meat and placed it in a pot on the stove. I added the season broth and BBQ sauce. Sweet! The plain meat itself appeared dry at first but then we put the "au ju" as my hubby called the seasoned broth, on the shredded pork and placed it back in the slow cooker. Delicious! My hubby was very impressed and had two of each sandwich...plain and BBQ. That was his birthday dinner and he loved it! Thank you! It's a sure bet I'll be making this again in the future!

Bourbon Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2006
I was so excited to make this recipe. However, it didn't really turn out right. We were expecting it to taste similar to the one you can get at the mall but it really didn't taste anything like it. I still would like to try it again making my own tweaks. I don't give up that easily. :o)

Cola Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2006
Hit with the family. I love it when I find something everyone likes. I did add a little garlic powder and onion powder to the chops as I read in several of the reviews. I haven't tried it with chicken yet but I will.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: May 16, 2007
Thought this was delicious! I didn't have everything to make the icing so I improvised with some store bought fudge icing and store bought whipped cream cheese icing. I mixed them together and spread that on top. Yummy! I'll definitely be making these brownies again. So simple, so easy, and ohhhh so good!

Honey Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2008
I've been on a bread baking binge recently using an old bread machine my mom gave me. Anyway, the last wheat bread I made was so dry. This one was awesome! The only change I made was upping the honey to 1/4 cup as suggested in some of the other reviews. This smelled delicious and tasted even better! I will definitely be making this one again! Soft and moist wheat bread....who'd have known! :)
