Tuna and Avocado Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2014
I love this salad. I first had it when I was in Mexico. I don't think I ever make it the same way ever. I like to add roasted corn, a great way to use up left over corn on the cob. Our bunch always cleans the bowl!

Fruit Cocktail Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2010
I had surprise company for dinner and made this as an easy and quick dessert. It was a hit. I had 3 pieces left over and the next day they reminded me of a "wet bottom pie". 5 stars in my book!

My Mother made this for years. She called it "Poor man's fruitcake". Thank you for posting this and letting me carry on a family tradition at Christmas.

Potato Candy

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
I was a child of the 50s and in our house there wasn't alot of "store candy". My Mother made potato candy in the summer and fudge in the winter. Thank you for posting this recipe. I'll be making this for my older brother for Christmas, along with some fudge. ;)

Pickled Red Beet Eggs

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
A lot of you write that these were made for Easter. It was that way at our house too. Now I keep a jar in the fridge all the time. I just love putting the onions in sandwhiches, or as a side dish by themselves. My family members were thrilled to see that I use some of Mothers' recipes.

Double-Crust Potato Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2008
Growing up in Bucks Co. Pa. this was a weekly meal when we had cool weather. My Mother would save the broth from the potatoes to be poured over our bowl full of pie at the table. For those that didn't care for the broth, there was warm buttered milk.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2007
This is the fudge my Mother made. It does take white sugar, not powdered. The reason for the graininess, is stirring it too much. Mom always said, Don't monkey with it or it'll go sugary on you. Soft ball stage is dropping a teaspoon full in a cup cold water..If it stays together in a soft ball, it's done. Good luck with this recipe, once you do it right, you'll feel so accomplished.
