First Day With Allrecipes

Starting with who I am, Im "Fivekids", I am 26 years old, with a family of 7. It is a large family, but we function very well with alot of planning, structure and organization.
Food and preperation accounts for at least 40% of my daily activities. Those of you with larger families i'm sure can relate! So finding good, healthy, filling, budget friendly recipes is what its all about at meal times.
I've found some fantasic recipes, as well, many different types of meals to add to my weekly/monthly food calendar. It sounds extreme, but I tell you, for someone as disorganized as I am, its one of the most brilliant ideas i've come across from other mothers with large families.
It also helps for myself, and modivates me to want to make bigger meals, knowing what to make by looking at the calandar every morning.
I am finding that I have a new found love for baking, and I've even suprised myself, the kids and my spouse with how amazing it has tasted. Me? make something edible? For those who know me, it comes as a shock to you as well I'm sure. :P
Some of my favorite things to bake so far are the " ever so kid friendly" Cake pops! Those were VERY popular in this home, so much that now I will be making 100 cake pops for class mates at school, And 50 Doughnuts! ( or as I texted to the love of my life) "doughbuts" ... I blame who ever thought the N and B should be that close on a key pad lol.
So to wrap this up, I will update, fill in , and keep track of everything I make from this site, and post how well it went in our home.
Feel free to post!
Thanks to all for your time

Welcome. I am a mom of five too. All boys! Our oldest four are grown men (still my little boys, I don't care what they tell you) and our youngest is 10. So wish I would have found this sight sooner, but am very happy to be a part of it now. It is addicting, helpful and very mom friendly. Enjoy.

hi fivekids, looking forward to hearing your reviews of recipes. reviews are a big help when deciding to try a new one or not. word of advice, unless you want to be bored to tears and read something long winded that has nothing relevant to do with cooking, ignore doc simonson's blogs. he thinks he's walt whitman. i gave up reading his stuff awhile ago when i joined allrecipes. everytime i thought i was going to read something helpful that i could apply to a recipe, all he ever contributed was a bunch of inane antecdotes about his life.(if you read them, you will find out way more about him than you'll want to know) you'll find this problem with a lot of other bloggers who just want to spill their guts too instead of writing something that's applicable to cooking. you'll also get a lot of people's politics for some reason. very weird! if they want to blog that stuff, fine, it's a free country. but it's inappropriate and offensive on a site called "allrecipes". you'll get to where you can tell where someone's blog is going in the first sentence so you won't have to waste too much time reading some boring novella before you realise that it has nothing useful to offer on the subject of cooking. good luck.
